Hmm, it's not mainstream as in played on the typical radio stations, but it's neither "scene" music. The genre is Celtic or epic type music.

Connie Dover - I am going to the West

In this fair land I'll stay no more
    here labor is in vain
I'll seek the mountains far away
    And leave the fertile plain

Where waves of grass and oceans roam
    into infinity
I stand ready on the shore
    to cross the inland sea.

I am going to the west
You say you will not go me
    You turn your eyes away
You say you will not follow me
    No matter what I say
I am going to the west
I am going to the west

I will journey to the place
That was shaped by heaven's hand
I will build for me a bower
Where angel's footprints mark the land
Where castle rocks and towers high
Kneel to valleys wide and green
All my thoughts are turned to you
My waking hope, my sleeping dream

And when sun gives way to moon
And silver starlight fills the sky
In the arms of these last hills
Is where I'm bound to lie

Wind my blanket earth my bed
    my canopy a tree
    willows by the rivers edge
    Will whisper me to sleep

I am going to the west
I am going to the west

    THE OLD WAYS (Loreena McKennitt)

The thundering waves are calling me home, home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home, home to you

On a dark new year's night
On the west coast of Clare
    I heard your voice singing
    Your eyes danced the song
    Your hands played the tune
    T'was a vision before me

We left the music behind as the dance carried on
As we stole away to the seashore
We smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair
    And with sadness you paused

Suddenly I knew that you'd have to go
Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so
Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time
    And I wondered why

As we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea
    A vision came o'er me
Of thundering hooves and beating wings
    In clouds above

As you turned to go I heard you call my name
You were like a bird in a cage spreading its wings to fly
"The old ways are lost," you sang as you flew
    And I wondered why

The thundering waves are calling me home, home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home, home to you

The thundering waves are calling me home, home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home, home to you

For a more mainstream song is the soundtrack from the series Vikings:

Fever Ray - If I had a heart (Vikings Soundtrack)

This will never end 'cause I want more
More, give me more, give me more

This will never end 'cause I want more
More, give me more, give me more

If I had a heart I could love you
If I had a voice I would sing
After the night when I wake up
    I'll see what tomorrow brings

If I had a voice I would sing

    Dangling feet from window frame
Will They ever ever reach the floor?
More, give me more, give me more

Crushed and filled with all I found
    Underneath and inside
    Just to come around
More, give me more, give me more

If I had a voice I would sing

Becoming "mainstream" in Switzerland (I mean even the subsidized radio plays it, and has been chosen as the "official" song of the Alpine Festival this year). Plus it's certainly the first time you will hear rock music in Swiss German and you can enjoy the landscape if not the music
