    Schandmaul - Walpurgisnacht

    Schandmaul - Walpurgisnacht

    Schandmaul - Walpurgisnacht

Der Mond scheint voll und klar
Taucht die Welt in bleiches Licht
    Nebel - sonderbar -
    Verschleiern Sein und Sinne

    Magisch strahlt der Ort
Zieht uns an mit seiner Macht
Ich muss fort - es ist Walpurgisnacht!

    Stetig steil bergauf
    Dorthin wo das Feuer lodert
    Zieht uns in ihren Bann
    Der Gottheit wilde Meute

    Nah an der Feuersglut
    Verschmelzen wir zu einem Körper
    Werden eins mit der Walpurgisnacht!

    Rundherum ums helle Feuer
    Rundherum im wilden Tanz
    Kreisen Körper, Geister
    Blicke berühren sich im Fluge!

    Rundherum ums helle Feuer

    Rundherum ums helle Feuer
    Rundherum im wilden Tanz
    Kreisen Körper, Geister
    Blicke berühren sich im Fluge!

    Sieh' ein Rabe fliegt
    Hinaus ins dunkle, weite Land
    Auf seinen Schwingen liegt
    Mein innigster Gedanke

    Mag er ihn bewahren
    Auf diese Weise weitertragen
    Weit in die dunkle Walpurgisnacht

    Einen Moment lang sah ich
    Diese Welt aus seinen Augen
    Einen Moment lang spürt' ich
    Seine freie Seele

    Als der Morgen graut
Ist er dem Blick entschwunden -
    Es neigt sich diese Walpurgisnacht

    Rundherum ums helle Feuer
    Rundherum im wilden Tanz
    Kreisen Körper, Geister
    Blicke berühren sich im Fluge!

This one ain't Germanic, by any stretch of the imagination, but I still find it really cool and inspiring. A great example of mainstream-style music going ethnocentric. Now for our able-eared Germanic brothers and sisters to get on the case!

    Russia White Europe Slava!
A nation is an organic thing, historically defined.
A wave of passionate energy which unites past, present and future generations

Corvus Corax - In Taberna (Carmina Burana)

Corvus Corax - In Taberna (Carmina Burana)

Corvus Corax - In Taberna (Carmina Burana)

    n taberna quando sumus,
    non curamus quid sit humus,
    sed ad ludum properamus,
    cui semper insudamus.
    quid agatur in taberna
    ubi nummus est pincerna,
    hoc est opus ut quaeratur;
    si quid loquar, audiatur.

    Quidam ludunt,
    quidam bibunt,
    quidam indiscrete vivunt.
    sed in ludo qui morantur,
    ex his quidam denudantur,
    quidam ibi vestiuntur,
    quidam saccis induuntur;
    ibi nullus timet mortem,
    sed pro Baccho mittunt sortem.

    Primo pro nummata vini;
    ex hac bibunt libertini;
    semel bibunt pro captivis,
post haec bibunt ter pro vivis,
    quater pro Christianis cunctis,
    quinquies pro fidelibus defunctis,
    sexies pro sororibus vanis,
    septies pro militibus silvanis.
    octies pro fratribus perversis,
    nonies pro monachis dispersis,
    decies pro navigantibus,
    undecies pro discordantibus,
    duodecies pro paenitentibus,
    tredecies pro iter agentibus.

Tam pro papa quam pro rege
    bibunt omnes sine lege.
    Bibit hera, bibit herus,
    bibit miles, bibit clerus,
    bibit ille, bibit illa,
    bibit servus cum ancilla,
    bibit velox, bibit piger,
    bibit albus, bibit niger,
    bibit constans, bibit vagus,
    bibit rudis, bibit magus,
    Bibit pauper et aegrotus,
    bibit exul et ignotus,
    bibit puer, bibit canus,
    bibit praesul et decanus,
    bibit soror, bibit frater,
    bibit anus, bibit mater,
    bibit ista, bibit ille,
    bibunt centum, bibunt mille.

    Parum sescentae nummatae
    durant cum immoderate
    bibunt omnes sine meta,
    quamvis bibant mente laeta;
    sic nos rodunt omnes gentes,
    et sic erimus egentes.
    qui nos rodunt confundantur
    et cum iustis non scribantur.

    In English:

When we are in the tavern, we do not care about what earth is (i.e. what we are made of), we set about gambling and over that we always sweat. We must investigate what happens in the tavern where money is the butler; pay attention to what I say.

Some gamble, some drink, some live without discretion. From those who spend their time in gambling, some are stripped bare, some win clothes, some are dressed in sacks; there no-one fears death, but for the wine they throw dice.

First, for the payment of the wine (i.e. who pays for the wine). Then the boozers start to drink; they drink once to those in prison, after that, three times for the living, four times for all Christendom, five times for the faithful departed, six times for sisters of loose virtue, seven times for soldiers of the forest, eight times for brothers in error, nine times for scattered monks, ten times for those who sail, eleven times for men quarrelling, twelve times for those doing penance, thirteen times for those on journeys.

For pope and king alike all drink without restraint.

The mistress drinks, so does the master, the soldier drinks, so does the cleric, that man drinks, that woman drinks, the servant drinks with the maid, the fast man drinks, so does the slow, the white man drinks, so does the black, the stay-at-home drinks, so does the wanderer, the fool drinks, so does the scholar.

The poor drink, and the sick, the exile and the unknown, the boy, the greybeard, the bishop, the deacon, sister, brother, old woman, mother, that woman, this man, they drink by the hundred, by the thousand.

Large sums of money last too short a time when everybody drinks without moderation and limit, even though they drink with a happy heart; in this everyone sponges on us and it will make us poor.

Damnation to those who sponge on us! Put not their names in the book of Just.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."

    Triakel - Last Year

Last year I was herding the goats in the valley,
Last year I was herding the goats in the valley,
And now I'm at home on the farm with a baby,
And now I'm at home on the farm with a baby.

Last year I could dance to the sound of the fiddle,
And now every evening I'm rocking the cradle.

Last year I could lie with the boys in the sunshine
And now all I've time for is nursing and washing.

Don't laugh at me for you know that it's true
You never know when it could happen to you.

    Garmarna - Herr Mannelig

    Garmarna - Herr Mannelig

    Svenska: Herr Mannelig

Bittida en morgon innan solen upprann
    Innan foglarna började sjunga
    Bergatrollet friade till fager ungersven
    Hon hade en falskeliger tunga

Herr Mannelig herr Mannelig trolofven i mig
För det jag bjuder så gärna
I kunnen väl svara endast ja eller nej
    Om I viljen eller ej:

Eder vill jag gifva de gångare tolf
    Som gå uti rosendelunde
Aldrig har det varit någon sadel uppå dem
    Ej heller betsel uti munnen

Eder vill jag gifva de qvarnarna tolf
Som stå mellan Tillö och Ternö
Stenarna de äro af rödaste gull
    Och hjulen silfverbeslagna

Eder vill jag gifva ett förgyllande svärd
    Som klingar utaf femton guldringar
Och strida huru I strida vill
    Stridsplatsen skolen I väl vinna

Herr Mannelig herr Mannelig trolofven i mig
För det jag bjuder så gärna
I kunnen väl svara endast ja eller nej
    Om I viljen eller ej:

    English: Sir Mannelig

Early one morning before the sun rose up
Before the birds began to sing
The mountain troll proposed to the handsome young man
    She had a false tongue

Herr Mannelig, herr Mannelig, will you be betrothed to me?
For that, I offer you gifts very gladly
Surely you can answer but yes or no
If you wish to or not

To you I wish to give the twelve steeds
That go in the grove of roses
Never has there been any saddles upon them
    Nor bridles in their mouths

To you I wish to give the twelve mills
That stand between Tillö and Ternö
The stones are made of the reddest gold
    And the wheels are silver-laden

To you I wish to give a gilded sword
With a blade of fifteen gold rings
And battle how you will [well or badly]
The battle you would surely win

To you I wish to give a shirt so new
The best you will want to wear
It [literally: she] was not sewn by needle or thread
    But crocheted of white silk

Such gifts I would surely accept
If thou wert a Christian [or: pious] woman
However, thou art the worst mountain troll
The spawn of a Neck (water spirit) and the Devil

The mountain troll ran out the door
    She shakes and wails hard
Had I got the handsome young man
I would have got rid of my plight

Herr Mannelig, herr Mannelig, will you be betrothed to me?
For that, I offer you gifts very gladly
Surely you can answer but yes or no
If you wish to or not
