Yup. The return would be very much problematic, due to heat.

This seems the same as tying a blanket around your neck, scrawling 'S' on your chest and jumping out of a towerblock window whilst calling it your 'important contribution to flight'.

I would pay to help fund this venture, purely for my own amusement of course!

Its not the strength per say, that is the issue at high altitude it's weight, the higher you go you need more thrust and the air is thinner so it takes more power to maintain flight. If going into orbit, they need very good thermal protection for re-entry, only advanced artificial ceramics will suffice.

One look at the uneven surface of the fuselage and wing tells me it won't fly well.

There is no good reason for a hand sanded surface to be that uneven. Quality control is lacking.

The extra weight of the electric hatch mechanism is ridicules.

Well the guy says it is going to have a propeller, so I'm guessing it is intended to be just an experimental light plane.

But to answer your question the answer would probably be yes, it might get you out of the atmosphere, but you would burn up like a cinder if you tried to reenter.

Space Ship One is made from composites.

But Burt Rutan is a Real Engineer and knows what he is doing.
    These guys do not.

I think this is a brilliant idea, everyone. Don't discourage our black brothas! Now all we need to do is make several thousand more and put the black population in them and send them at the speed of light into space.

This guy stands a better chance of getting into near-orbit if he just flapped his arms repeatedly like a duck.

Propellers in space. How come NASA didn't think about that?
