Post Halla, jeg er ny - Hello, I am new :)

Hello, I am new here. I would like to join this community because it may provide me the opportunity to both learn more of my family's heritage (my family "recently" came from Norway) and appreciate the diversity of other ethnic groups.

Although my family comes from Norway, I was born in Canada. As I was young, I learnt a little bit of Norwegian, but as I got older, I was only taught English at school. Over the last year, I've relearned a lot of what I knew and am starting to learn more. I am now 18 years old and am planning to attend university to eventually become a doctor.

    Questions/Comments?

    Yes and no...

I'll be more specific about myself.

    I'm 1/8th Scottish, 7/8th Norwegian.

One grandfather, on my mother's side, who was half Norwegian and half Scottish, was actually born in Edinburgh. My mom's family has jumped all around the teutony. My dad's side of the family is pretty much all in Norway (I think they're mostly in Oslo or have been for awhile) and more recently here in Canada.

So is it Scots Gaelic you know a little of?
By the way, Edinburgh doesn't count as Scotland

Only joking, I would like to see Norway sometime though. I've met some of their women....very nice

As funny as it may sound, I have not yet been to Europe (that I know of). Yeah, I have a couple friends with family from the Scandinavian region. The girl, who is Danish, with her we can communicate in Norwegian/Danish quite well. It's a bit trickier with the guy, who speaks Finnish. Interestingly enough, the three of us plan on going into medical school, as well as a few other friends of mine (I didn't befriend them because they're Scandinavian, because I don't care what somebody's ethnicity is, but I always like learning more about the diversity in the world).
