    Post Re: Classify Maldini

On some pics he has a tan from spending too much time in the sun and some pics have bad lightning, so keep notice of that.

Anyway he looks Northern-Italian, he doesnt have the swarthy exotic Mediterrenean look.

He would also look typical in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany etc.

    So my guess is Alpine.

He might have a tan, but he seem olive-skinned. Maybe Southern France. He would be atypical among most Germans, whether they live in Germany or Austria.

I think that he has more of a Dinarid face than an Alpinid.

He has deep-set eyes. His hair too is curly. His face is narrow, and nose is long. The lower part of his face is solid, and the chin high and firm. He has the typical deep furrows from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth. Those traits are altogether signs of Dinarid.

    Post Re: Classify Maldini

Well, what im trying to say is that he lacks every feature of a Mediterrenean.

Mediterrenean in my opinion is : black hair, darkbrown eyes, very heavy eyebrows and usually darker skin than white.

Maldini has mediumbrown/darkbrown hair, blue eyes, normal eyebrows and white skin.

In my opinion he is Alpine, but if you think he is dinaric, well maybe. But if you think he is Mediterrenean then I have to disagree strongly.

Dinarics are common in Austria and Germany by the way.

I never implied or stated that I think he is Mediterranid.

There is nothing about him that suggest Alpinid traits. Why do you think that he is an Alpinid? We can see what others think.

Dinarids are only strong in certain parts of Southern Germany. They are nowhere dominating alone, but they may together with Dinarid. Nordid is present everywhere in Germany, dominating in northwest, and it is a significant element in Southeastern Germany.

I doubt that anyone would mistake him for a German. Is that what you are claiming?

His jaw look totally Dinarid. His body structure does not seem Alpinid either.

Sorry, I thought you were claiming he is Mediterranean but that was someone else in another topic.

He could indeed be dinaric like you said, but I still think he is alpine.

I just wonder why you think that he is an Alpinid. See these two attached pictures, first of a Belgian Walloon who is Alpinid and second of Palaghi, a Dinarid from Italy.

Let's classify his father, Cesare Maldini. He has somewhat that reminds his son.

His father is closer to Nordid. His face is more narrow. His jaw is different. He is also fairer. Even he got a Dinarid occipit.

Alpines and Dinarics have a lot in common. In my opinion the main difference between Alpines and Dinarics is that alpines have an open dreamy babyface while Dinarics have a sinister look.

Perhaps the words dreamy/babyface and sinister are a little bit stupid to use in an anthropology context, but I dont know how to express it better.

I still think Maldini looks more like the Walloon guy you posted.

By the way : the dinaric photo you posted looks like Alessandro Del Piero.
