Well, that's not necessarily true. I mean, at one time in history, all humans had brown eyes. It's silly to think there isn't any variation in the Germanic tribes that later ended up making us what we are. Although it's a shame blue eyes are dwindling still. I'm planning on doing all I can in the future to preserve them through my children.

I read a story on the internet that all Caucasian babies in the womb have blue eyes. Then when they are born they are either blue or change to green, grey or brown. This probably relates to the genetic mutation that happened about 6000 years ago. This discovery was reported by OSKI on Jan. 31st, 2008 in the genetics section.

Brown eyes are an alien feature in the North. Rarely a native has them, usually a sign of Celtic or Lappish ancestry.

I'm for the preservation of Nordic traits but it doesn't stop at blond hair and blue eyes. A blue eyed person can have foreign ancestry too which can be visible in the cheekbones, slanted eye shape, and so on. Some Lapps have blue eyes.

Oddly my brother was born with blue eyes but it turned to brown by the time he was a year old. It was probably due to the small part of Celtic genes in my family.

I'm sorry, Varg Vikernes. That must mean about 30% of all ethnic Swedes (light hair but not light eyes) are racially alien.

(I didn't mean to thank your post, but I pressed the wrong button.)

If anyone is interested the Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler had hazel eyes/brown hair, yet he believed in the purity of Germanic blood & was obviously very much German himself.
Should also be stated that many Slavs who have nothing in common with Germanic people have blue eyes & blond hair(maybe someone here knows why, not exactly sure myself), so really the entire "blue eye" obsession is not exactly accurate as an example of the perfect Germanic.

30% of Swedes have brown eyes? Where do you get that from? I think it's exaggerated and your statistics could include people with foreign or mixed ancestry. Even so, 30% is not enough to call it typical.

If you tell me a brown eyed Swede is typical, I'm sorry but I have to laugh.

From a large study of the racial characteristics of Swedes at the beginning of the last century, when Swedes were less mixed than today:

    "RACIAL ELEMENTS IN SWEDEN"

"The colour of the eyes in 47.4 per cent was blue, in 19.3 per cent grey, in
28.8 per cent mixed, and in 4.5 per cent brown.

The colour of the hair was in
23.3 per cent fair, in 52 per cent cendre, in 21.6 per cent brown, in 0.8 per cent
black, and in 2.3 per cent red.

Taking into account the blue and grey eyes, and the yellow and cendre hair there is found to be in Sweden 66.7 per cent with
light eyes and 75.3 per cent with fair hair. "

I did not say brown eyes, I only said that people with non-blue eyes are a large minority. Here is a fairly accurate map of eye color percentage:

Not typical, but common enough not to be seen as "a foreign trait".

Anyways, the idea that brown eyes are a foreign import into Northern Europe is a false one, and has even been disproved on this forum.

I was talking about brown eyes, isn't that what this thread is about?

How do you explain then that the ancient Germanics and Viking tribes were described as blue/light eyed? Swarthy traits stuck out in comparison.
