Nothing.The bishops and The Times were just repeating what they heard from high ranking government officials such as WSC up to the BBC since (then) 18 months. The propaganda campaign was set into motion in July 1941 by Sefton Delmer and the SOE (Special Operation Executive/ British "Intelligence") which then poised the airwaves over Europe as well as dropping leaflets and brochures via the RAF about what supposedly happens in Himmler's camps.

If at all something is "implied", then it is the point that holocaust propaganda dates back into the Second World War, and not like it is quite often suggested nowadays, was "discovered" after the war. It was also an issue in the quarrel between the Anglo-Allies and the Vatican in 1944. The Vatican refused to probe the British claims and called them fictional---until Rome and Castel Gandolfo (summer seat of the Pope and part of Vatican State, thus neutral territory) were bombed in spring 1944.

Actually, there were approximately 5.5 million Jews living in Europe. There were about 15 million living world wide. The majority lived in North America at the time.

So, it still begs the question, where did those 6 million come from?

According to "Dissolution of Eastern European Jewry" by Prof. Walther N. Sanning, the only demographic work available on the issue. He comes to the conclusion that a maximum of 5,5 million jewish civilians were under Axis control on the Axis high tide 1942.

Wow!!! You just have to admire NS efficiency in exterminating 6 million Jews out of a total of 5.5 million under their control

And yet, despite achieving this remarkable feat, they still managed to miss all those "Holocaust™ Survivors", many of whom are still around today!

As Ralf points out though, this was not the first time that the sacred '6 million' number had been mentioned. It was always being trotted out whenever the Jews felt threatened and, obviously, WW2 presented yet another chance for them to advance this claim. Isn't it supposed to fulfil some kind of biblical prophecy for them??

Whatever, it certainly looks like they got the C of E (either through naivety or complicity) to help pave the way for their post-war Holocaust™ myth!
