And the rain forests, both in South America and Asia, are quite vital for the globe's climate system, so I totally agree that we should care.
The desire to have a pristine environment must be part of Nationalist philosophy. There is more that one reason for this; number one is the simple natural desire for a pristine natural environment (at least in my case). Second, we need the earth system to work a certain way in order that life, including human life, be sustained. Perhaps not often realised is the importance of the trees to the supply of air - if we cut them all down it would be the simple logical outcome that we all suffocate.

Planting million of young trees , of whom 90% will not reach adulthood ,
is a similar hype to megawatts of wind turbines and solar panels : hot air ,
that will evaporate after a while .

I am for environmental protection , and wind turbines have become an
essential economical factor by production and deployment in my area .
Same applies to the Solar-Industries in East-Germany .

But the Public Relation around these is real overdosing propaganda .

As a side note I went by a planted earth wall recently , apparently
planted and fenced as ecological replacement for errecting three wind turbines .

Almost all planted trees were not watered this crazy hot summer , and almost
all of these died by drought .
Germanics in my area have become careless and lazy .
Mk 10:18 What do you call me a good master, no-one is good .

Ecosia offers RWE (energy giant) 1 Mio Euro for the Hambacher Forst

Hambacher Forst, the last remnants of it that is, is one of our oldest forests, with some trees more than 300 years old.
RWE wants to chop it all down to harvest brown coal. A court ordered a stop to clearing already, but this is only a temporary solution. Ecosia offered RWE to buy it all up and thus protect the last 200 hectare, which once was 4500 hectare, but this was already cleared over the last few decades.

50,000 people protested against the clearing last weekend, 800,000 signed a petition to permanently protect it from clearing, and polls show that 75% of Germans want it protected.

    https://de.blog.ecosia.org/1m-hambach/

Ecosia looks out to other people/investors to increase the offer made to RWE, since they could consider it too little, although it is already twice the sum they paid for it.

And what happened to the Hambacher Forst?

Qwant - one of the most loved privacy oriented search engines after DuckDuckGo. It ensures neutrality, privacy, and digital freedom while you search for something on the Internet. While it may not offer a personalized experience (given that it does not track you), it is a very dynamic search engine with trending topics and news stories organized very well.

Dogpile - Dogpile may look like a search engine you cobbled together with clip-art, but that’s rather the point as it pulls in and ‘curates’ results from various different engines including Google, Yandex and Yahoo, but removes all the ads.

Startpage is a good initiative as a privacy-oriented search engine alternative to Google. To protect your privacy, it lets you choose it. You can either select to visit the web pages using the proxy or without it. You also get to change the theme of the search engine. There’s an interesting option with the help of which you can generate a custom URL keeping your settings intact as well.

Gibiru sources its search results from a modified Google algorithm. Gibiru’s CEO announced in a press release that his service is exactly what Google was early on. It provides reliable search results without all the tracking that Google does today. Gibiru positions itself as being “faster than the NSA Search Engines since it does not install all sorts of personalization and tracking cookies on your system.” Gibiru is outspoken against Google’s ability to manipulate, or censor, your search results.

Lukol is anonymous search engine enhanced by google custom search via proxy. Lukol is considered as one of the best private search engines that protects from online fraudsters and keeps the spammers away by safeguarding you from misleading or inappropriate sites.

Desearch is the world's first crypto-focused search engine.

Gigablast indexes billions of web pages and provides real time info without tracking your online searches or browsing history. It is considered as one of the best private search engines that keeps you almost entirely hidden to marketers and spammers. Gigablast offers searching with certain customizations and optional parameters like searching by exact phrase, languages, terms, filetypes and many more.

Oscobo is a search engine created for the sole purpose of protecting user privacy. It doesn’t track your information like Google. Oscobo says that you pay for your searches with your personal data, but you shouldn’t have to. Oscobo fully encrypts your search terms and does not use third-party scripts or analytics on its search engine, so only you will know what you searched for.

Yippy has an additional feature that automatically categorizes query results. For example, a search for “dogs” displays the top results, but also has categories for Training, Photos, Dog Breeds, Rescue, etc. It doesn’t follow search users around the web with ads. Yippy Inc. also has a search product that competes with Google’s Search Appliance.

searX is technically defined as a “metasearch engine”. In other words, it utilizes other search engines and accumulates the results to your query in one place. It does not store your search data being an open source metasearch engine at the same time. You can review the source code, contribute, or even customize it as your own metasearch engine hosted on your server.

Peekier is another privacy oriented search engine. Unlike the previous one, it is not a metasearch engine but has its own algorithm implemented. It may not be the fastest search engine but it is an interesting take on how search engines can evolve in the near future. When you type in a search query, it not only fetches a list of results but also displays the preview images of the web pages listed. So, you get a “peek” on what you seek. While the search engine does not store your data, the web portals you visit do track you. In order to avoid that to an extent, Peekier accesses the site and generates a preview image to decide whether to head into the site or not (without you requiring to access it). In that way, you allow less websites to know about you – mostly the ones you trust.

Search Encrypt uses local encryption to secure your searches. After you’re done searching, your search terms expire so they are private even if someone else has access to your computer.

Discrete Search is a metasearch engine that doesn’t track any identifiable information. It’s a good choice for anyone looking for quick results in a clean and user-friendly form. It uses end-to-end encryption to keep your searches as private as possible.

WolframAlpha is a computable search engine that provides accurate answers and offers open knowledge. It’s a knowledge-packed private search engine which nonetheless does not track what you search for. This private search engine performs dynamic calculations using inbuilt algorithms and delivers expert knowledge about people, calculations, health & medicines, money & finance, music & movies and much more.

MetaGer is yet another open source metasearch engine. However, unlike others, it takes privacy more seriously and enforces the use of Tor network for anonymous access to search results from a variety of search engines. Some search engines who claim to protect your privacy may share your information to the government (whatever they record) because the server is bound to US legal procedures. However, with MetaGer, the Germany-based server would protect even the anonymous data recorded while using MetaGer.

Swisscows - You may have known about it as Hulbee – but it has recently redirected its operation to a new domain. Swisscows utilizes Bing to deliver the search results as per your query. When you search for something, you would notice a tag cloud on the left sidebar which is useful if you need to know about related key terms and facts. You get to filter the results according to the date but that’s about it – no more advanced options to tweak your search results. It utilizes a tile search technique (a semantic technology) to fetch the best results to your queries. The search algorithm makes sure that it is a family-friendly search engine with pornography and violence ruled out completely.
