    Is This Hitler's Voice?

The following recording is an alleged conversation between Hitler and Field Marshall Mannerheim, Commander-in-Chief of Finland's Defence Forces. What makes this so unique is that it is supposed to be the only surviving recording of Hitler's normal speaking voice. Many people find it an unsettling experience, and if it turns out to be real then I would agree with them. I have always known his famously excitable voice during speeches.

Has this been proven to be a hoax? I am inclined to think so. The subject of the conversation seems to be about matters of the war that both men would have already known about, and did not need repeating. Nothing that either men say here adds anything new to established history. They seem to be parroting everything I have read in mainstream textbooks. If this had been a conversation where Hitler had asked Mannerheim about his family or other mundane aspects of life, then it would seem more believable. Perhaps a surviving recording of Mannerheim will be needed in order to compare them both.

Yes, it's almost certainly Adolf Hitler.
Interesting conversation, by the way. Hitler is explaining the reason behind the attack against Soviet Union. As it turns out, it had nothing to do with megalomaniac desire of "conquering the world" but rather to defend the Romanian oil wells which Germany was dependent on.

As this recording also revealed, Hitler was anything but a raving frothing lunatic. Despite his tendency to launch into monologues, he must have been an interesting person to talk to.

I've just checked out David Irving's website and he doesn't doubt the authenticity of this recorded conversation with Mannerheim ...

Sure. The conversation was secretly recorded by Fin Military Intelligence.
One reason why Hitler never negotiated outside the Reich was that he feared to be wire tapped.
All other important meeting such as the Munich Treaty (1938, notice that old Chamberlain had to come twice because Hitler denied him an England visit) were "at home", either in the Reich Chancery, the Berghof, his Munichapartemt or later in the FHQ.

The one (of 2, the other other was his Italy visit in 39) exception he made, namely to meet old Mannerheim (former Czarist Guard officer and education in St. Petersburg as Finland was part of the Russian Empire until 1917) was---wire tapped. So when there is nothing in the Italian archives, then neither Mussolini nor Himmler wire tapped Hitler's conversations .

AH:"If somebody had told me a nation could start with 35.000 tanks then I'd have said: You are are crazy"
    Uhm...you did exactly that MF!

Just 12 months earlier short before Barbarossa was launched he called Colonel Gehlen of German Military Intelligence "nuts" for his estimation of 15.000 Soviet tanks. The Wehrmacht was barely able to field 3.000 light and medium Panzers for Barbarossa. The inevitable shock came when a few days after June 22 the first T-34 and KV1 were engaged. German AT guns and tank guns proved to be worthless against them, only Flak88 and Stuka precision strikes were able to stop them.

Wow,i think this is amazing but very eerie at the same time knowing the impact these men had and i think it also shows how serious things were for Hitler behind his 'take no sh*t' image.

I don't see why it wouldn't be his voice, or why he would not have had a pretty normal voice. His 'screaming' fashion in his speeches is often cited as a proof of his so-called "insanity", but it was not uncommon for speakers of the era to speak with much, almost exaggerated pathos. What seems odd to us now, was perfectly normal back then.

It ultimately does not matter whether it is real or a very good fake, the important part is stressing that the Führer had a normal voice like you or I, and would talk normally to people if he met them. It has a relatively calm, but serious knack to it, as is oft the voice of leaders, similar things about a very calm way of talking to his peers was said about Andreas Hofer.
-In kalte Schatten versunken...

(Heimdalls Wacht, In kalte Schatten versunken, stanzas 4-6)
