Two Men Were Executed, but You Will Probably Only Have Heard of One of Them

Yesterday in America, two men were executed, but you will probably only have heard of one of them: Troy Davis, who was killed in the state of Georgia for the murder of a police officer. The other executed man, Lawrence Brewer, put to death in the state of Texas for murdering a black man in 1998, has barely featured in the news at all. Unlike Davis, he did not win the backing of Amnesty International and its trendy supporters. No one tweeted and retweeted their sorrow over Brewer or made a public spectacle of how heavy his execution weighed upon their hearts, as many did with Davis. No one lit candles outside the American Embassy for Brewer in full glare of photojournalists’ clicking cameras. No one wore t-shirts saying “I AM LAWRENCE BREWER”.
It might seem obvious as to why Davis was championed while Brewer was ignored: there were many doubts about Davis’s conviction, whereas Brewer was undoubtedly guilty. Furthermore, he was a racist toerag, a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan, whose murder of James Byrd Jr was racially motivated and horrifically executed. But if you are opposed to the death penalty on principle, as many of the Troy Davis campaigners claimed to be, then you should be just as outraged by the execution of Brewer as you were by the execution of Davis. You should be as opposed to the state killing of a guilty racist as you are to the state killing of a possibly guilty black man. Even James Byrd Jr’s son asked for the state of Texas to show mercy to his father’s killer, but no army of bleeding-heart Twitterers backed him up.
The airbrushing of Brewer from yesterday’s heated discussions on the death penalty speaks volumes about the Troy Davis campaign. It seems pretty clear that it was motivated, not by a principled, across-the-board opposition to the state killing of citizens, but rather by campaigners’ desire to indulge in some very public moral preening. Unlike the Brewer execution, which was ugly and complicated, the Davis execution could be squeezed into a cosy moral narrative in which the state of Georgia was depicted as backward and racist and those who opposed the execution of Davis presented themselves as purer than pure, good and decent, and more than willing to prove it by writing tweets of concern every four or five minutes. What message should we take from this disparity in campaigning? That Troy Davis did not deserve to die but Lawrence Brewer did? Such moral flightiness, such brutal arbitrariness, reveals much about today’s very changeable campaigners against the death penalty.

Passed and posted a status about this on my Facebook now, perhaps some people will read it and have a think about it, I have a few bleeding heart liberal-lefties on my list as well, by virtue of keeping a lot of schoolmates and university colleagues on there alike.

The point here is: The way the Daily Telegraph has presented it as, is the only plausible thing --- claiming institutional racism on behalf of the State of Georgia is better for publicity and fits better with the lop-sided worldview of the liberal left than to oppose the state killing of an evil white racist who showed no remorse (but where the aggrieved family actually still called for mercy!)

Some others will say that the anatomy of the case was different, that Brewer was definitely guilty and that Davis was not. Having grown up with a good induction into the Scottish legal system, which allows a three-way verdict of "guilty", "not guilty" and "not proven", I still disagree. All it takes even there - and it's the only way under which the death penalty could ever operate on a 100% fair basis - is for the guilt to be "beyond reasonable doubt".

There was no reasonable doubt in Davis' case, so the sympathy can only be from a lop-sided viewpoint, or alternatively from the idea of the liberal left that violence against the police is somehow more justified. I'm not a friend of the police as an institution in this day and age, as they are an extension of the system, but even a denizen of the system does not deserve to be shot on criminal intent by a law-breaking Negro.

The funny thing with the left is they say criminals are not evil but victims of society, however they will freely call racists evil even if they have done nothing a rational person will consider a crime.

In the liberal world view no criminal should be killed but whites who are racist by nature diverse death or to be replaced by the more worth "victims" the Negro and other non whites.

I have long lost sympathy for amnesty as they would not help your average white but would help any known scum bag non-white.

Well, if such obviously anti-white and rampant die-hard liberals like these ethnic people and NAACP veterans...

...are outraged about the execution of a murder of a white family father, then the execution can´t be such a bad thing at all.

Madison MacPhail, the daughter of the murdered policeman, couldn´t come to know her father before he has been killed. She was clearly speaking out against any adjournment of the execution and I can fully understand her. Her tears are more important that than tears of anti-whites who want to safe a black man only because he´s black. I´m glad that justice has been served.

Even German media try to portray the black man as a poor victim of racism while the real victim doesn´t even receive a name. I had to use google to learn the name of the victim´s family.

Davis was a Negro cop killer, it is trendy to among celebrities to champion the "innocence" of those kind of death role inmates. Among White inmates it depends on the crime they committed. No one was going to speak out on behalf of a defendant who dragged a Negro to his death, regardless of the fact that Negroes commit those sort of crimes against one another everyday (not to mention murdering Whitey) without receiving the death penalty.

The demonstrations for this cop killer remind me of some that where held here in the Netherlands when some Moroccan was shot after attacking a cop with knife. Or when one was crushed to death between a car and a tree by the women he just robbed.

The Troy Davis case disgusts me. There were 7 eye-witnesses to his cold-blooded murder of officer MacPhail (who was shot in the back of the head while providing medical assistance to a man that Davis had just pistol-whipped). Even though a few of the witnesses changed the details of their testimony years after the original trial, none of them ever denied that he was the one who pulled the trigger. In spite of this preponderance of evidence against him he was awarded judicial review time and time again. Even the US Supreme Court heard his appeal, something that virtually never happens. Despite all of the appeals, every time his case came in front of a judge the guilty verdict and death-penalty were upheld. This is a man who was guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. In spite of this the media and liberal organizations like the UN continued to demand his sentence be reversed. On the other hand, hundreds of innocent whites have been beaten and a few have been killed by mobs of blacks deliberately targeting whites in multiple incidents across the country this summer and the media refuses to even report on it.

Those wretched liberals, with their underhanded use of statistics in their unceasing attempts to cloud our judgement:
African Americans are 12 percent of the U.S. population, but 42 percent of prisoners on death row. In Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Maryland, and in the U.S. military and federal system, more than 60 percent of those on death row are Black; Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Ohio all have death rows where more than 50 percent are African American. Although Blacks constitute approximately 50 percent of murder victims each year, 80 percent of the victims in death penalty cases were white, and only 14 percent were Black.

Of the over 18,000 executions that have taken place in this country’s history, only 42 involved a white person being punished for killing a Black person. Five Reasons to Oppose the Death Penalty
