Well according to the West Londoner it seems the Police have it under control finally.

Oh, but you'll recall that the riots were, supposedly, in part provoked by the shooting of Latasha Harlins by a Korean store owner. Imagine had it been a white store owner who had done that...

I remember very well pictures of Korean store owners patrolling their storefronts with rifles and shotguns during the LA Riots. Needless to say, their businesses were neither burned nor looted.

Police in Birmingham were struggling to contain swelling anger within the Asian community after a hit-and-run by suspected rioters killed three young men, two of them brothers.

Despite appeals for calm from senior officers, young Asian men vowed to defend their streets once more following an attack which has plunged a community into mourning – and awoken fury about what they believe to be a lack of police officers on their streets at a time of widespread unrest.

Tariq Jahan, the father of one of the dead men, said his son Haroon would still be alive had police stopped the rioting and looting quickly. Speaking at a candlelit vigil last night, Mr Jahan said: "If the police had handled the matter, if they could have stopped the escalation and the violence across Birmingham and other areas, this would not have happened."

Has the rioting overshadowed the Breivik massacre in the European news media? I haven't read or heard a thing about Breivik for over a week here in the states- he's been completely overshadowed by the Stock Market crash and the British Riots.
