Does anyone know how many Nordish Germanic people there are left? I'm guessing it's around 200 million but I can't find reliable statistics.

What would one use for criteria? Percentages of certain nationalities? If so, it would be easy to make some calculations.Originally Posted by Siegfried Augustus
Seems far-fetched. I wish it would happen. But for example, Germany's strongest ally is France, not any other Germanic country.Originally Posted by NewHistory
Nordish will be defined along McCulloch's lines. Germanic will include ethnic Dutch, Flemish, German, Austrian, Dane, Norwegian, Swede, and English. The situation is a bit complicated in the former colonies (take Australia and the USA, for example), Switzerland, and regions of the UK.What would one use for criteria?

Did he not make his own calculation?

The Celtic Tiger, is of course a product of the Irish themselves, but EU played a large role, as well as US investment. Another success is the low tax regime of Ireland. Taking productivity into account Irish workers are half the price of those in Germany. Ireland with its average annual growth rate has historically sought allies in the French and Spanish. Maybe it is like the Swedish anthropologist suggested, that one can find a common Celtic espirit between the Irish and French.
There is already a union between the Nordic countries. We already have the Nordic Council/Nordic Council of Ministers.
Business: The Economy The EU Budget explained - "Germany has been by far the biggest net contributor, along with some of the smaller rich countries like the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria."
"Italy claims to have a black economy - which pays no tax - equal to 25% of its economy."
Isn't that just lovely about Italy?
EU budget generates major net transfers into Cohesion Countries - "In relative terms, Sweden was the largest net contributor (0.50 % of GNP)"
EU budget : All Member States benefit the poorer more than the others
Member states getting impatient on EU budget
EU states pressed to "pay up" as budget battle looms
As strange it may sound many EU-critical parties won seats in the latest election for the European Parliament. It is interesting to see that the "new" EU from the former "Eastern-Block" are so happy that they joined, while some fractions in the "old" EU countries are pessimistic about the relevance of EU.

That's significantly less than 200M (for Europe).
Just my 2 cents.
That's a fair estimate, I think, for Europe. But then one could add the numbers of the diaspora in Australia, South Africa & America.Originally Posted by Ross
Even if one couldn't provide figures, it's still safe to say that Germanics are the most Nordish of metaethnics, that Celts and Balto-Slavs are only Nordish insofar as they overlap with Germanics. Germanics have all the light complexions of eye, hair and skin, whereas the others aren't that gifted. How many Balto-Slavic gingers with freckling? How many Celtic platinum blonds with sallow skin? There's no lack of both among Germanics, who are Central Nordish.
