What's the Difference Between Breed, Race and Subspecies?

Are certain populations of humans so distinct, they can be considered breeds? Or races? Or even subspecies?

No not really. Simply based on the fact you can have children with every other human being of the correct gender of the planet, in theory. Subraces can not interbred or if they can their offspring can not reprouduce a mule is a prime example of this. And given the fact genetic studies have told us we all come from a woman living in east africa, theres not really enough genetic diverisity to from anything close to subspecies, at least not now. Last time that were possible would be around the last ice age.

    Race is subspecies.

A breed is a non-scientifically-classed artificially produced group of domestic plants or animals.

This is entirely incorrect unless you are confusing 'subspecies' for 'species.' Being able to reproduce viable offspring is the standard definition of the same species. Subspecies are capable of reproducing with different subspecies and are the same thing as races.

A mule is a cross between two species and cannot reproduce.

Even with the Out of Africa Theory there is plenty of information to support subspecies, common sense with your own eyes notwithstanding, on this forum alone.

Race is just population. A subspecies has never been properly defined but roughly it means the same as a geographical race in physical anthropology. Namely a phenotype spread over a geographical area else isolated in smaller areas. People shy away from labelling modern humans as different subspecies, but the subspecies concept is I'll defined anyway. (Species is fuzzy and arbitrary enough.)
