Mexicans. Twenty years ago, you would have hardly ever seen one. Now they are taking over small towns in East Tenessee. My co-worker told me today that he nows lives in the ghetto, twenty miles from an urban area!

Here in America, the media is filling up the evening broadcasts with interviews of people expressing how wonderful it is to have all this diversity in America. However, in the real world, there are very few people who like this immigration from the third world. Most people are simply fed up and are beginning to talk of this country breaking at the seams.

I live in eastern Kansas right next to the Missouri border and it's the same thing here. And it seems that the media and corporate America are welcoming them by putting everything in Spanish as well as English; sometimes even Spanish first!!! It drives me absolutely insane. Then I have people asking me about the languages I study. Recently I have been reading a book on Norwegian (having some struggles with it though; wish I could take a class) and people ask me why I don't learn Spanish instead and that I'd use Spanish moreso than I'd use Norwegian. So I'm supposed to learn some language I don't care about just because a bunch of third-world leeches keep moving in? I don't care to talk to any of them so I find no use for their language.

Mexicans. They are everywhere. There were many areas of rural America that was bypassed by the different waves of immigration since the 1880's and were thus overwhelming Nordid or some othe combination of Nordid/Europid. Of course the South had a Negro minority but custom & Jim Crow laws kept the populations seperated. The Mexicans (and occassionally Salvadorans) are coming into areas that were a bastion of Germanic America. I think that is why immigration has become a hot political issue because it is no longer restricted to California or a few large metro areas like New York or Chicago.

First, it is not their language, it is ours. Second, Spanish has many more uses than only using it to speak with Mestizo immigrants.

My country is getting full of Mestizo/Amerindians (especially from Ecuador and Colombia), of Moroccoans, and of African Negroes.

AW: What immigrants are most common in your area?

Most common are Southern Slavs and Turks, many Gypsies too, but in the recent years many Subsaharan Africans and all kinds of foreigners came in too and forming a growing portion of the population.

As for immigrants in my area--just like interracial relationships, I just don't see very many here. If I were pressed to give an answer, I would have to say east and south Asians. They are educated and are either doctors or researchers/faculty at local colleges and universities.

Also, I could really be a smart-ass and say that the biggest immigrant force here are yuppie New Yorkers and Massholes (Massachusetts) moving to their dreamhouse in the countryside.

Yes, there a lots of them, they are the most numerous immigrant group. They group themselves in bands, and fight each other to defende "their" territory, some Spaniards have been assassinated by these sons of a b., and some girls raped. Some parts of my city are almost like the "Latino" hoods in L.A.. Twenty years ago you wouldn't find a single non-European in Spain, nowadays they make up 15% of the population in my city.
