My hair is dark blonde (or mouse brown, as my Gran calls it), but I do have Irish blood, as my Gran's family originated in Donegal, Ireland. My Grandad's family originated in either Norway or Sweden (Vikings, in otherwords).
Pale pigmentation here in Scotland is fading rapidly, what with people going to tanning booths or going on holiday with the sole purpose of getting a tan. A group of radio comedians once did a sketch entitled "Red Scots vs. Grey Scots", Grey Scots of course being us pale-skinned creatures. They ripped off the state of the squirrel population and how the Grey squirrel is dissapearing and being replaced by the Red squirrel.
The point behind it was that there's a tan culture forming, where it's rapidly becoming the social norm to be "red" and not "grey".
There are a few of us still who refuse to conform and remain pale.

    Just my two cents....
Fellow pale person here I hate the sun. There are lots of us in Washington State.

So, there is a tan line forming in Scottish society.

Well, at least it's not being replaced by the Black squirrel
