I'm Scottish , I did a DNA test which shows that all my 100% matches are centred on Germany! So on my Father's side I am German or Austrian.
I find this quite interesting, as I don't know who my Dad is, but I know what sort of blood I have .
So I am Scottish, but half-German it seems. Perhaps I don't have the right to call myself partly German, but this is very interesting and I'd like to explore all this further.
Unlike many people, I actually can prove it.
I'm one of the older kind of DNA, the R1b's, from the pre-Celtic inhabitants, so I am not 'Aryan' or saxon, though I am quite fair. But of course there will also have been intermarriages with angles and saxons.
Again this is not of so much concern to me. Perhaps I should start thinking if I have also inherited some cultural and behavioural traits. I always thought I was a bit different!
I think of the similarities of shared cultures and views, rather than what makes us different. I now know I'm part of that Western race which started out in the Cro-Magnon time as are most of us.
