    Ancient Britons 'Drank from Skulls'

Ancient Britons were not averse to using human skulls as drinking cups, skeletal remains unearthed in southwest England suggest.

The braincases from three individuals were fashioned in such a meticulous way that their use as bowls to hold liquid seems the only reasonable explanation.

The 14,700-year-old objects were discovered in Gough's Cave, Somerset.

I see nothing wrong with a skull cup, once its boiled clean and stuff, im sure it's a fin cup. Its easier that having to make cups out of things.

Maybe they thought they would gain knowledge or communication with the skull's previous owner?

I bet they were Ice Age warriors that wanted to come across as the tough guys to their neighboring tribe after they defeated some in battle. Would you mess with a guy drinking water out of a skull? I wouldn't that's for sure.

Explains where the term "Skull a drink" came from!
I grew up on a belief of honour, courage and the old world values. The world isn't about that anymore, preferring to die a slow death of fast food and cheap thrills.

That's very interesting. I'll have to go with the museum people and say it's a ritual thing. I would not want to drink from someone's skull, unless of course I was some sort of priest performing a ritual.

Quite a popular term in Australia, chanted - "Skull, Skull, Skull" meaning to drink several drinks very quickly. Also to drink a single drink very quickly.

Americans I think use the term "Chugg" in a similar way
