To Monolinguals: What Language Would You Most Like to Speak? And Why??

A question only to monolinguals, that is, those who only speak one language. What language would you most like to speak? And why??

And when i mean speak it, i dont mean speak a few words here and there, or being able to read it and/or "get the gist of it"; i mean speak it with native-level fluency.

(Also state what your native language is)

I think the only monolinguals who could respond to your question are native English speakers as English is the language your post is written in.

Well, German is my native language and English my second language. I love my mother language and I don´t need or wanted an other one. If the whole world would speak German, communicating would be much easier!

American English is my language and it's the only one I care to speak. German would be nice to know so I could read German literature in its original form.

I speak German, but I wouldn't say that my German is fluent, by any means, so I suppose I can count as a monolingual.

I'm interested in a lot of languages (other than German, which is my primary language interest), including Russian, Turkish, Latin, Japanese, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch, Danish, and Gothic. I generally like Germanic languages best. I like the others because they either sound cool to me or have interesting writing systems.

I know enough French to get by but I'm probably never going to be fluent in it. I would love so much to learn German but am quite intimidated by it plus I'm not convinced that you can actually learn a language without being immersed in it.
