I walked approximately 5.5 to 6 miles yesterday, all at a pretty fast pace.

Lately I have been training with my girlfriend because my regular training partner is a bit indisposed at the moment. First he had a tatoo and now he has gone on vacation to Svalbard.

I have convinced my girlfriend to take up barbell training, more specifically the Stronglifts Beginner Programme. Her weights are way too low for me, but if I do a more advanced exercise I still get a challenging workout. So, my girlfriend does Squat with the same weight that I use for Thrusters. She does Deadlifts with the same weight that I use for Power Cleans. And for Dumbbell Press I just use grab a pair of dumbbells three times as heavy as hers (she can't do Press with an empty barbell yet).

    So last time:

    30 kg Thrusters 5x5
    17,5 kg Dumbbelll Press 5x5
40 kg Power Clean 3x10 (just mixing up the reps for variation)

I will of course resume Stronglifts when my training partner is available again and I get through the exam period. Hopefully I will soon be able to accomplish a 120 kg Squat and a 130 kg Deadlift.

    60 kg Squat 1x5
    80 kg Squat 1x5
    115 kg Squat, 3x5

    20 kg Overhead Press 1x5
    35 kg Overhead Press 1x5
    47,5 kg Overhead Press 5,4,2

    70 kg Deadlift 1x5
    90 kg Deadlift 1x5
    125 kg Deadlift 1x5

The Squat and the Deadlift were personal records, the result of consistently training Tuesday and Thursday and one other day a week since February.
I have come to believe that consistency more then anything else is the key to results in strength training.

Some of you do squats and deadlifts in the same workout? Every time I get done with squats, I feel like puking, and I can barely walk up the stairs.

Really? How much weight do you use and how many repetitions?

I have never experienced much discomfort from squatting, but I do them several times a week. I have known other people with less experience get really, really sore from a mere 20 kg squat.

Right now, I'm doing 3 sets of 8-10 reps, with 300 lbs. Not sure exactly what that is in kg. Maybe 135 kg? If you don't feel like falling on the ground after squats, then you're not doing enough weight.
