90 Year Old War Hero Banned from Collecting for Charity

Hero Tom Gilzean of Edinburgh, raised £42,000 last year. Last night he said: "It's what I live for."

Tireless Tom has been out on Edinburgh's Royal Mile with his collection tin for the past five years drumming up cash for good causes. But local authority chiefs have banned the kilted charity champion from taking to the streets all year round to raise money - because he has the wrong permit.

I wish they'd ban the Salvation Army from ringing those damnable bells all December long. It's enough to drive someone batty. I went to the store today, and the instant I got out of my car was assaulted with *ringringringringringringring*, which was well over the audible level of what I'd consider 'blaring' for music.

Anytime I'm asked to donate, I tell them that I don't donate to fake charities.

That throws them for a loop. I doubt that a single one of them spent ten minutes doing on any research on the vile organisations they are ringing the bell for.

Oh... and the whole permit thing is bollocks. I'd tell them to stuff it and do it anyway. He's 90. What are they going to do? Lock him up?

Honestly, they most likely would and let him die in jail. They lock up 90 year old Nazis who never did anything wrong and who dont do anything they could consider bad since. So i don't see why they wouldn't lock up a harmless old man trying to help people. Our governments should hang themselves as a Christmas present to us all.
