    For or Against Regional Mixing?

Are you regionally mixed? Do your Parents or Grandparents come from different Regions in your Country? How do you feel about Regional Mixing? I don't think it's wrong because Transylvanian Saxons live in many different Regions. In Transylvania however there are both Saxons and Swabians.

    Traditionally German territories in Transylvania

The spread of the German language until around 1945 in Central Europe. Orange marks Lower German, blue Middle German and green Upper German dialects.

Swabians speak Upper German and Saxons speak Middle German. If a Saxon and a Swabian mix the Cultures will be little different because of the Dialects but not big Problems since the Culture of both is German and standard German is spoken.

Post Scriptum: Don't confuse it with Ethnic Mixing. Regional Mixing is about People who are from one Ethnic Group but different Regions in a Country.

Hmm, what do you mean with that? Immigrants who live in Regional Enclaves? Like for Example, if here in Transylvania, someone from Hermannstadt (German) mixes with someone from Kolozsvár (Hungarian), or do you mean different Sub-Races like Nordic with Alpine?

I don't know. I see no big deal if others do it but I wouldn't like a mixing with a West German, unless maybe, and only maybe they live here in the East and become known with our history and culture. I still see some cultural difference between us. Some of these Westerners are liberals. I wouldn't like my children indoctrinated with that nonsense.

I see, but what about if someone from a Eastern Region, for Example Saxony mixes with another Eastern, for Example a Thuringer?

I said it's no big deal if other people do it. Saxony and Thuringia are no problem. They're not that different dear.

My family line is very regional since most of my ancestors were rural people, so they didn´t came so far around. No Inner-German migrants or even globetrotters are known.
Most of my ancestors married within the own village or with people from neighbouring villages according to old church marriage documents.

So I´d say that I´m not regional mixed. I´ve nothing against regional mixing per se, it´s not harmful, but I´d find it better if people from the same region come together for partnership and family business. It´s just a personal preference. I´m looking for a partner from the same region...last but not least because he has to understand my bavarian dialect...*g* :p

Yes you're right. It looks like they speak same Dialects there.

Saxon-Thuringian is an East Central German dialect spoken in much of the modern German Free State of Thuringia and Saxony. It is similar to Upper Saxon German. It is one of the Central German dialects with the highest number of speakers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuringian

Upper Saxon (German: Obersächsisch or colloquially, Sächsisch) is a Central German dialect spoken in much of the modern German States of Saxony and Thuringia. The degree of accent varies from place to place within the states, with it being anywhere from a relatively mild accent in the larger cities such as Dresden or Chemnitz, to a stronger form in the villages of the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge).

So would you say Saxons and Thuringians are really regional mixes?

As well as an ethnic mix of English and Irish (quite a different kettle of fish!), my English side is quite mixed, with Lancashire and Northumberland elements. Though they're both Northern, there's a lot of regional differences in dialect and general attitude to life that can't be ignored. I personally think that having a bit of both is an interesting eye-opener to wider ethnic questions, making us know a little more about our country and its place in the world, and the nature of humanity. I feel nothing but dismay to talk with people who've not travelled out of their own region, and know next to nothing about the majority of their compatriots.
