    Re: God Commands Racial Segregation?

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Catholic Online) – Racism is present in the hearts of some Catholics and institutionally in the Catholic Church which the faithful must work to purge in thought and in action, said a U.S. archbishop in a comprehensive pastoral letter.

In the document, “’Made in the Image and Likeness of God’: A Pastoral Letter on Racial Harmony,” released Dec. 15, New Orleans Archbishop Alfred C. Hughes begged forgiveness for acts the church committed that were racially insensitive or did not promote racial harmony, and committed the church to action.

The pastoral was made available in its entirety in the Dec. 16 issue of the Clarion Herald (Main Page).

“I want to express an apology for the way in which I or other members of the church have acted or failed to act,” he said. “I want to acknowledge the past in truth, seek forgiveness and recommit myself and our church in New Orleans to realizing the gospel message in our relations with one another.”

It was released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the issuance by New Orleans Archbishop Joseph Rummel of the landmark and controversial pastoral, “The Morality of Racial Segregation.”

“In this 1956 ground-breaking message,” Archbishop Hughes said of his predecessor, “he announced that racial segregation was to be gradually dismantled in all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese. He stated unequivocally: ‘Racial segregation as such is morally wrong and sinful because it is a denial of the unity-solidarity of the human race as conceived by God in the creation of Adam and Eve.’”

The archdiocese celebrates “this courageous pioneer of racial integration,” Archbishop Hughes said, “even as we try to make a realistic assessment of the progress and the challenges that are ours today.”

About a quarter of the 41,000 students in archdiocesan Catholic schools represent ethnic minorities, with more than 7,000 are African-Americans, almost 1,500 are Hispanic, more than 1,000 are Asian-American and about 200 are multi-racial, he noted.

One of Martin Luther King's most famous quotes concerns race and the American church. "It is appalling that the most segregated hour of Christian America is 11 o'clock on Sunday morning…," King remarked in 1963. Sadly, almost 50 years later, the church remains overwhelmingly racially divided. Only between 5% to 7.5% of churches in the U.S. are considered to be racially diverse, a designation meaning that at least 20% of a church's members don't belong to the predominant racial group there.

"Ninety percent of African-American Christians worship in all-black churches. Ninety percent of white American Christians worship in all-white churches," said Chris Rice, coauthor of More Than Equals: Racial Healing for the Sake of the Gospel. "…Years since the incredible victories of the civil rights movement, we continue to live in the trajectory of racial fragmentation. The biggest problem is that we don't see that as a problem."

The racial reconciliation movement of the 1990s, which sought to heal racial divides in the church, inspired religious institutions in America to make diversity a priority. The popularity of so-called megachurches, houses of worship with membership in the thousands, have also contributed to diversifying U.S. churches. According to Michael Emerson, a specialist on race and faith at Rice University, the proportion of American churches with 20% or more minority participation has languished at about 7.5% for nearly a decade, Time magazine reports. Megachurches, on the other hand, have quadrupled its minority membership--from 6% in 1998 to 25% in 2007--Time states.

So, how were these churches able to become more diverse, in spite of the church's long history of racial divides? Church leaders and members, alike, can help to ensure that members of all backgrounds attend their house of worship. Everything from where a church serves to what kind of music it features during worship can influence its racial makeup.

In the colonies with big populations of Slaves like the US and Brazil there are known records of churches exclusively for negros and excusively for whites, so the racial segregation by the Church was a common practice at the time.

Despite there were some racial laws it was also justifiable by the biblical text.

Genesis chapter 11 says that it was God who separated men by language and scattered them abroad on the face of all the earth (verse 9). Prior to that, it says that the whole earth was of one language and of one speech (verse 1), living and working together in peace. It was God, concerned about their ambition and ability as a unified people, who decided to segregate them by language and geography.

We must also ask the question; how can God have a chosen people?

Could it be the will of God that one race of people should be preserved in their ethnicity, culture, language ... in order to possess the promised land?

Segregation and the Bible by Everett Tilson

Unfortunately today isn't easy to find sources about this subject over the internet related to traditional Christianity but there are some CI sources based on the same bible with some good points about segregationist passages.

In the Bible, God repeatedly warns us against any mixing of races and especially against intermarriage and mongrelization. Some of this has been overlooked because of imperfect translation out of the Hebrew and Greek languages in which the Bible was written. Let us examine some of these passages, carefully noting the exact meaning of the words used in the original tongues.

From the very beginning, the commandment not to permit mongrelization is strongly emphasized. For example:

EXODUS 33:16 "So shall we be separated, I and all of Thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth."

LEVITICUS 20:24 "I am the Lord thy God, which have separated you from other people."

JOSHUA 23:12-13 "if ye do in any wise go back and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriage with them and go in unto them and they unto you: know for a certainty that they shall be snares and traps unto you and scourges in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish off from this good land which the Lord your God has given you."

DEUTERONOMY 7:3 "NEITHER SHALT THOU MAKE MARRIAGE WITH THEM: thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son."

Many warnings are given in the Bible not to mate with "the stranger. "But the Hebrew words translated "stranger" in these verses are "ZUWR", "NEKAR", and "NOKRI" and each one means A PERSON OF A DIFFERENT RACE FROM OURS. (There are other Hebrew words, "ger" and "toshab", meaning persons who are aliens only in a political sense, but of our race.) The warning against race mixing is always against those "strangers" who are ZUWR, NEKAR, or NOKRI. For example.

PROVERBS 23:27 "For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange (ZUWR) woman is a narrow pit.

The reason for the warning is clear. MONGRELIZATION IS THE WORST FORM OF "GENOCIDE". If you kill 99% of a race, but leave the other 1% pure blooded, they will in time restore the race. But, when you mongrelize them, you have destroyed that race eternally. Once mixed with the Black or Yellow Races, the White Race would be totally and forever destroyed. Hence, God has forbidden it.

PSALM 144:11-12 "Rid me and deliver me from the hand of a strange (NEKAR) children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: That OUR SONS may be as plants grown up in their youth, that OUR DAUGHTERS may be as the polished cornices of a palace."

JEREMIAH 2"21,25 "Yet I planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed. HOW THEN, ART THOU TURNED INTO THE DEGENERATE PLANT OF A STRANGE (ZUWR) VINE UNTO ME? Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat thirst: but thou saidest There is no hope: no: for I HAVE LOVED STRANGERS (ZUWR) AND AFTER THEM I WILL GO.

HOSEA 5:6-7 "They shall go with their flocks and their herds to seek the Lord, but they shall not find Him: He hath withdrawn Himself from them. THEY HAVE DEALT TREACHEROUSLY AGAINST THE LORD: FOR THEY HAVE BEGOTTEN STRANGE CHILDREN."

GENESIS 6:9 "Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations" (Hence, Noah and his family were saved while the mongrels were wiped out.)

JUDE 7 "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication and GOING AFTER STRANGE FLESH, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

DEUTERONOMY 23:2 "A bastard shall not enter into the Congregation of the Lord: even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the Congregation of the Lord."

Race mixing is outlawed in the 10 commandments.

"Thou shalt not commit Adultery" actually means do not race mix - Adulterate: to make impure with something foreign or inferior, "to corrupt".

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/adulteration

Unfaithfullness is already covered by "Thou shalt not covet your neighbour's wife".

It is against nature, it is against God, it is against good sense and instinct. That's why interracial sex is wrong. That's why it's called REPRODUCTION.

If we use religion to justify racial segregation then we will also have to accept a gazillion of nonsenses such as humanity descending from a couple that only had sons or that dinosaur fossils are a hoax perpetrated by the godless.

If we want to justify segregation (or rather, racial and cultural preservation as I prefer to call it) we better use a more logical and practical approach.

You are ignoring the fact that Chrisitanity is an influential block in the US. In recent years liberation theologists have been preaching that Universalism = integration. If segregation can be justified to a large segment of the populace based on scripture that works toward the goal of preservation. Science & sociology studies could be use persuade secularist. Whatever works.

As it is Sundays is the most segregated day of the week because of defacto segregation, particularly among the Fundamentalists & Conservative Protestants. Belonging to a predominately Asiatic sect you might not be aware of that.

Best to actually read the Bible for yourself than spout off jewish anti-God propagander.

    Genesis Chapter 5
4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

As for dinosaur fossils being a hoax, the book of Job describes a creature that can only be a dinosaur, the Devil himself is potrayed as a dinosaur allthough untill the term was coined in the 19th century, they where previously known as dragons.

Regarding the original post, though I would agree with it generally, for instance, one of the warnings of punishments from God was that foreign men would kneel between the legs of thier womenfolk, but a lot of the reason for God wanting his followers to avoid taking foreigners in marriage was to stop the Hebrews learning thier pagan god worshipping practices such as burning thier firstborn alive to the demon god Molech, the Israelites ignored this warning, took foreign wives, and before long they where burning thier own children alive and God ended up discarding his chosen people as they had rejected him for the foreigners gods.

As for Noah being "perfect in his generations", as Noahs three sons gave birth too all the diverse races we see today, for instance from his son Ham came the black race, the application you attribute to the term cannot logically be so.
Rather, the human race had been visited by what we would call pagan gods, the fallen angels who took human form and mated with human women, thereby corrupting mans genetics with an "alien" DNA, it is from this early history of mankind that we get the Roman and Greek legends of the gods and thier children demi-gods. Genesis 6 v 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Noah being "perfect in his generations" mkeans he was not contaimenated with such and was a pure human.

In my opinion it is better to read yourself the bible as the word of god without priests and intermediaries.

Priests are man, they are sinners, they make wild religious interpretations, they manipulate the true meaning of the text, take parts of it out of context and give emphasyze to only some of the parts.

In the infiltrated and Judaized Christian churchs of today (almost all of them), is even more essentitial to avoid the clerical teachings.

For some reason the majority of Christians don't practice the religion anymore, i believe it is because of the amazing heresies and corruption in the church.
