The obedient German stereotype does seem to have a bit of truth to it. A few years back I was at a German-American dinner event. Basically it was one of those things where you hang around, meet people for an hour or so after eating from a buffet, and then listen to a speaker. I was there because I wanted to talk with a girl who I thought was going to be there but she never showed so my friend & I just talked to a couple German businessmen for a while and listened to the guest speaker. He was an older German gentleman who spoke about his time as a dissident in East Germany. He & his co-dissidents operated hidden printing presses and spread anti-Communist literature in the 80s. When the Q & A section came around someone immediately asked him:

What was the most difficult part of being a dissident in Germany?

He said without any hesitation, 'Germans are not rebellious people.'

The older dissident didn't think it was impossible to get Germans to rebel, just not easy.

Indeed, it takes tremendous efforts or probably unbearable conditions to move Germans.
Real rebellions in our history you can basically count with one hand, and that is including the great defeat of the Roman army in 9 CE.

Although it is often downplayed and "political" figures grab the fame for it, a real rebellion was also what happened in the GDR prior to the opening of the borders and the following reunification. There was no blood, no mass killings, no violence, no nothing one usually connects with rebellion, just people persistently demonstrating every monday for over two years, for one simple goal: travelling freedom.

It is very rare that the Germans grab forks and torches to rebel against life conditions.

Someone once compared the German as such to the horse Boxer from Animal Farm, who remains blind and passive to the negative changes around him, but dutiful to his job until the day that the pigs decide that he goes to the slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, this assessment isnt untrue, we can totally blend out the pressure and still try to do our thing, hoping to be left alone, trying not to bother anyone and for this reason shrink ourselves so that we dont stick out and get attention.

And this isnt a new phenomenon. The northern German tribes had as their motto "lever doed en slav" (rather dead than slaves), and so they let themselves be slaughtered in this vein. Look at the Verden massacre, where Charlemagne slaughtered 4500 chieftains and even that did not trigger a rebellion. Granted, the low-scale war against the Saxons (in Germany; the territory they inhabited is still reflected in the names of the federal states Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia) continued for 300 years until they were really subdued, and the Frisians seriously kicked out the Franks from their land along with christianity and reinstated Pagan rule (ended somewhen in the 1400s only), but they got divided into West Frisia (Geldern, Netherlands, back then under Spanish rule) and East Frisia (now part of Lower Saxony), and since then, no more rebellion.

It must be noted that the "revolutions" of 1848/1850 were merely an after-quake of the French Revolution that exported it's "values" throughout Europe. They didnt originate organically. This is btw where the black-gold-red flag comes from, and why the post-war Germany got this flag again and not the Kaiser Reich flag (red-white), although it would be more appropiate because before the Kaiser Reich there simply was no Germany.

But back to the German spirit. If you manage to convince Germans of the rightousness of a cause and instill belief in it, the Germans will just as relentlessly fight for it. But it is extremely difficult to wake this spirit, as long as there is just a tiny corner left in which the spirit can hide from being bothered.

Which you can too observe through our history. We are always late to whatever developments in the rest of the world, even if they directly affect us. And then it takes tremendous efforts to undo these effects. Because the preaching of "Wehret den Anfängen" ('mind the beginnings' or somesuch) never worked, and it never will work with Germans. And then you have to go against the effects with immense brutality and ruthlessness. If Germany manages to awake to the effects imposed on us through EU, mass migration and the UN migration pact, it will be a giant bloodshed, and be assured that no one taking part will waste a second with bad consciousness ever after. But, I'm not sure if enough will wake up "just in time" (that is: ten minutes after 12 on the figurative clock)...

What was disturbing was that this man was obviously convinced there was nothing wrong with this behavior and you could tell he enjoyed it. And he was also very upfront about being part-German.
It goes to show that each race has its own Untermenschen. Did you give him a slap?
