This question came up in my mind in the aftermath of yet more Moslem terrorist bombings in Europe: two bombings in Stockholm yesterday, 11 Dec. 2010, in which one person was killed, hopefully the terrorist perpetrator, and two others injured, hopefully not real Swedes.
And this caused me to think that the governments of several, even many, European states have broken faith with their own people, the people they are socially contracted to protect and provide security for. (This is not to single out Europe for this sort of scrutiny; this charge could be levelled generally at all Western states and governments throughout the world. But it is Europe that is the subject of this thread.)
And because these states have broken the social contract with their own people to protect and provide security for them, should the people exercise their right to self-defence and take the law into their own hands: and plan, organise, and act in their own defence, as they see fit.
When a bomb goes off in a Moslem district of a Scandinavian town or city killing Moslems indiscrimately in retaliation for Moslem terrorism in Scandinavia against real Scandinavians, would that be justified if and when Moslems got the message to moderate their behaviour and even eventually leave? I believe one cannot trust any Moslem or Moslems: what so-called moderate Moslems say and what Moslems actually do are two different matters. One simply cannot trust Moslems, individually or collectively, in what they say: Islam itself gives Moslems licence to lie and deceive for their own protection and for the protection of Islam. In view of Moslems' unreliability in word, can anything be taken seriously, much less relied on, by what any Moslem community leader says in support or in endorsing a state policy of multiculturalism? I certainly think not.
And in continuing reference to Scandinavia as an example, I really cannnot think of a more culturally and socially disparate mix as Scandinavia imbued with Lutheran ethics, social progressiveness, and liberalism with culturally and socially backward Moslems from third-world countries. It just cannot work: the two communities just cannot effectively or successfully mix; they are utterly alien to each other and incompatible; their values are totally different. Any fool can see this; and yet far too many choose to delude themselves. So do citizens have the right to resort to armed violence in defence of themselves and their country in the face of continuing terrorist attacks by culturally and socially alien and incompatible elements if the state is unable to prevent these attacks, and clearly the state cannot prevent them?
In Europe, it seems to me, there is approaching an increasingly anarchic situation. If Moslems continue to outbreed Europeans, if Moslem 'culture' is allowed to remain and develop and propagate, if Moslem propaganda, fanaticism, and terrorism continues to flourish and be connived at by deluded Europeans and its spread is unchecked, anarchy, a Hobbesian state of nature, will surely develop and prevail in Europe. Thomas Hobbes was right. Perhaps a Hobbesian-type government in answer to this situation is in order: is it a case of Leviathan where are you?
