    Lonsdale Clothing

I don't normally post in the "Fashion & Beauty" section but thought someone might be able to help me here.

Is it true that in places like Holland and Germany, this brand name is either banned (particularly in schools) or frowned upon because of its association with the Neo-Nazi scene? I wore a Lonsdale top when in Dusseldorf a couple of years ago and the young chap we stayed with - my son's pen-friend - looked quite horrified and seemed reluctant to go out in public with me wearing it.

I thought this was an overreaction and was wondering if things have calmed down a bit since, or is it still not advisable to wear this particular make?

I don´t no if it is forbidden bur the leftist aswell as the Media is propagating against people wearing it because of the four middle letters "nsda" for National Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter is interpreted in to it. But same with numbers like the number 18, or 88 they are forbidden on like schoolgrounds and during political demonstration marches. The antifa are comitting arson against shops selling this label, without being really prosecuted. Another label is Thor Steinar although I heard the company had been sold to Arabs. These selfhaters will even demolish cars with numberplates containing these numbers. Sickening!

no its not forbidden here. but 10/15 years ago. the dutch gabber scene(gabber is a form of hardcore house techno) they try to look and dress like skinheads. always wearing army boots lonsdale sweaters and bomberjackets and in the media they were known as extreme right wing neo nazi's... offcourse the real skinheads ignore them and sometime's beat them up.
but it was in a time when most of the ''gabbers'' went to school together with turks and marocans and sometimes a school forbid wearing lonsdale and dutch flags. becouse there were scared of rascism they banned it from schools and pubs. but then they did nothing at the turks and marocans wearing there flags and signs.
funny thing to know is that gabber is a hebrew word for friend.

Some neonazis and skinheads in Germany wear a clone product of Lonsdale: Consdaple. Because then they have the "nsdap" letters in the word.

Anyway, I think such clothes are childish. And I´ve heard that Lonsdale campaigns against rightwing movements and produces adds with black people.

I don't know much about it, but I remember having read that Thor Steinar clothes for example have been banned in certain football stadiums and that the chief of police in Berlin made it forbidden for policemen to wear them.

Btw that's the same person who also forbid his policemen the use of german flags during the soccer worldchampionship because supposedlly it would breach their neutrality, while at the same time he had rainbow colored gay flags raised at police stations when there was a gay pride parade or something like that in Berlin.

It seems to me there's a lot of hypersensitivity involved in all of this, bordering upon the idiotic, and when it gets to the point where cars are being attacked because their number plates contain the numbers 18 or 88 you realise how deranged some of these left wing fascists really are (or do they still prefer the term "liberals"?) It's almost surreal!!!!

As for me, I've never been a "uniform" kind of person myself but I'll be f***ed if this will stop me wearing the clothes I choose to in other supposedly free and democratic societies. It's just best to be aware of these things though, so thanks a lot for the info!

There have already been cases of people who have been beat up by leftists for wearing such clothes, though they were oblivious to the political debate surrounding them and didn't even have right-wing views (not that it would have made a difference, but it underlines the madness of the political left).

I think the term 'liberal' is rarely used for leftists in the german language, probably because it is mainly associated with the FDP (a party representing classical and economic liberalism). Some leftists might even be offended, as most of them are proud socialists who don't like the FDP/economic liberalism at all.
