    How dark are the Sicilians compared to other Southern European populations? I have heard that some Sicilians are blond because of the Normans?

    Not that different from their closest relatives- Greeks and other South Italians.
    They are certainly darker on average than Northern Italians or some South Slavs (Slovenes, Croats, Bosnians).

    Sicilians

    Having lived in Sicily, I found them no different, physically, than Mainland Italians, Greeks or Western Europeans. As for "darkness", that is inherent in the farming and peasant stock who have spent a lifetime in the sun farming, herding and working outside...
