Question Where To Find The Best Mead Horns?

I am a big beir & mead drinker . I have an array of steins but I am looking for a real hollowed out horn for my mead. Does anyone know of any companies? The larger the mead horn the better, everyone hates refills. lol.

    Thanks for reading.

I bought mine from ebay. They were polished and the innards were roughly removed. I lined them with beeswax. You DONT have to do this, but you will more than likely get a bone taste to your drinkage if you dont. You can also use food grade polish on the innards.

If you dont seal the inside, you should not drink liquor or hot beverages from the horn. You can cure the horns with a strong dark beer type.

I only know of scandinavian sites that sells a thorougly finished drinking horn, but it's np to make you own.

I know jelldragon sells drinking horns, but they are not sealed on the inside.

    I got mine at Viking-shield.com
It had kind of a funny smell/taste at first but it went away for the most part.

Good Luck. I cleaned and waxed my own, and many for Friends & Kinsmen.
I got the sanded raw horns from a place called "Tandy Leather Company"
They use to sell raw, sanded Horns for 6 to $10.
I guess they are probably still around in you check on line.
    Have Fun!

So, now, if you're drinking from a horn, does that mean you can't lay it down whilst laden with beveridge? Or are there accessory stands that you can buy?
