Now that German chancellor Merkel announced the statement that the multicultural society has utterly failed, the question arises what to do with all the groups of immigrants.
Left wingers will try to maintain a (smaller) influx of immigrants and will tend towards a soft process of renewed integration efforts, which will have little chance of success in my opinion. Right wingers will tend towards a full stop of immigration. And they will be faced with the question of what to do with these groups. The word repatriation has already been mentioned, including on this forum. This made me wonder how such a process should work.
A few issues come to my mind.
- When does someone have to go and when are they allowed to stay? Should only first generations be repatriated or also second and third?
- What are the criteria for repatriation?
- Should it be limited to groups who show the highest rates in unemployment and crime and such?
- What if other parts of the world start repatriating ex-europeans?
I personally think repatriation has some interesting aspects in the sense of solving ethnical tensions which are inherent in multicultural sociaties. But it is also very problematic and it's a highly complex logistical process given the fact that we are talking about humans and not about TV-sets.
