    Aus Ex-PM Slams Multiculturalism

Washington - Australia's former prime minister John Howard has attacked "multiculturalism" in English-speaking nations, saying that some sectors have gone too far in accommodating Muslim minorities.

The blunt-talking conservative, who led Australia for 11 years before losing the 2007 elections, said on Tuesday during a visit to Washington that the "Anglosphere" needed to take greater pride in its values and achievements.

"This is a time not to apologise for our particular identity but rather to firmly and respectfully and robustly reassert it," Howard said at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank.

"I think one of the errors that some sections of the English-speaking world have made in the last few decades has been to confuse multiracialism and multiculturalism," Howard said.

Howard pointed in particular to Britain, whose Muslim community came under the spotlight after the 2005 bombings on the London transport system.

    'That country's identity'

"I am a passionate believer in multiracialism. I believe that societies are enriched if they draw, as my country has done, from all parts of the world on a non-discriminatory basis and contribute, as the United States has done, to the building of a great society," he said.

"But when a nation draws people from other parts of the world, it draws them because of the magnetism of its own culture and its own way of life," Howard said.

"People want to live in the United States not because of some futuristic ideal of multiculturalism, but because of what they regard as the American way of life and American values," he said.

While in office, Howard faced criticism from his opponents that he aggravated anti-Islamic sentiment through tough anti-terrorism laws and tighter immigration controls, including a test on "Australian values".

Howard said he welcomed Australian Muslims and hailed the recent election of Ed Husic, the son of Bosnian migrants, as his country's first Muslim member of parliament.

But Howard, who enthusiastically supported former US president George W Bush's invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, warned that Islamic radicalism posed a real threat.

    Extremism

He criticised those who would make cultural identity "mushy and unclear and undistinct," rejecting the "assumption that the way to win favour from extremism is to make yourself a little more attractive to that extremism".

Howard hailed what he called the values of political freedom and rule of law of five "Anglosphere" nations - Australia, Britain, Canada, New Zealand and the US.

Howard said that India shared some characteristics with the group. He also called for greater co-operation with Indonesia - which he hailed as an emerging model for moderate young Muslims - and Japan.

But Howard said that the "Anglosphere" clearly held different values than China.

Howard's Labour Party successors have sought to expand relations with China, a major consumer of Australia's raw materials.

Howard said his government maintained strong ties with China but added that the key to the relationship was to focus on business and "not to obsess about our philosophically different approaches to the challenges of the world".

John Howard is either a zionist or willing tool.
He carried on an arduous love affair with isreal before, during, and after his time in office.
If this man is coming out in opposition to something then you can be for sure it was approved by his jew masters first.

He is only just NOW publicly disapproving of immigration, which increased ten-fold during his term?!

    Ex-PM’s love for Israel continues

JOHN Howard was among firm friends on Sunday night at Lincoln of Toorak, delivering the keynote address at a tribute dinner for Isi and Naomi Leibler.

Acknowledged by Isi as “the statesman who displayed the greatest support for Israel of the time”, the former Liberal prime minister gave some insights.

“It is true that in my time as prime minister I stuck up for Israel … because I thought it was right to do so, because I thought the homeland established for the Jewish people is their right.

“It still amazes me how undeniably reluctant so many countries are to recognise the fundamental right of Israel to exist.”

Howard was introduced by master of ceremonies Sam Lipski as a public figure with “a Yiddishe kop [Jewish head on his shoulders]”, which he described as a talent for thinking laterally and never giving up.

Australia’s second-longest serving prime minister recalled spending time with the Leiblers at a 1988 concert in Melbourne honouring Soviet Refuseniks, who Isi helped take to Israel.

And in a nod to recent political developments, Howard lamented he could no longer call himself “immediate past prime minister”.

Then he turned to the guests of honour – Naomi was feted for her world presidency of Emunah, particularly its Neve Michael children’s village in Pardes Chana, and Isi won plaudits for decades of service to Australian and world Jewry – and paid tribute to the couple as “two remarkable members of the world Jewish community”.

Earlier, Isi recalled his trip with the then Australian prime minister to Ramallah in 2000, when the Oslo Agreement still had currency.

Isi received an unwelcome embrace from Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser Arafat, whom he had railed against throughout his years as the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s terrorist chieftain.

Afterwards, Isi had privately expressed scepticism to Howard about those peace overtures, and was struck by the Australian leader’s “principled approach and friendship”.

“I will never forget John Howard’s response,” said Isi, quoting the former Australian leader. “‘If Arafat reneges on his commitment,’ he said, ‘the people of Israel and the Australian Jewish community should rest assured that I will not let them down’.”
"Australia’s second-longest serving prime minister recalled spending time with the Leiblers at a 1988 concert in Melbourne honouring Soviet Refuseniks, who Isi helped take to Israel."

He has been hob-nobbing with jews for a while.
It is safe to say that they are the ones who got him into office.
Jews have ruled Australia for sometime now.

Do you also agree with this part :

I stopped reading after this sentence. He might be arguing against multiculturalism. But it will mean little in practice. Since he still promotes large immigration of strongly different ethnic groups in to Australia.

No, John, you are the one confused here. Multiculturalism is nothing but left-wing-liberal code for multiracialism. Think about it.

NB: The term 'multiculturalism" and its derivatives were coined in Australia when Al Grassby was Labor Minister for Immigration 1972-74 in the Whitlam Govenment.

The Canadians also claim to have invented the term, a claim I and many Australians would willingly concede to them if it were not for repeatedly hearing the term in the barrage of media coverage in Australia of Grassby and Co. in the Whitlam period. If the Canadians can prove they coined the term prior to December 1972 or even 1973, I would only be glad to award this title to them. Otherwise this degrading and ignominious word remains of Australian provenance.

For this, I apologise as an Australian.

You are missing the point, what Howard says is that what he wants is a multiracial Australia with a homogenous culture. I.e. to bring all the world together into a big melting pot and then imposing a culture of his choice on them. Do not think for a second that what he means by 'Australian' values is what e.g. Mr. and Mrs. Jones of Exmouth, Western Australia, mean by that concept.

This is the New World Order in a nutshell.

Perhaps, but for most people multiculturalism and multiracialism are synonymous terms: a multicultural country ipso facto is a multiracial country, and a multiracial country is a multicultural country. In practice, these terms are synonyms: I can't see a country like ours having a multiracial population and remaining monocultural. It just doesn't work like that in practice.

I wish he did something more when he was in power to halt it, instead immigration increased under him

Many problems can be traced back to the Whitlam Government, we are lucky he was dismissed by the governor general!

It's a pity Tony Abbot didn't get in to PM'hood. He hates immigration. Thats a part winner on my behalf.
