Examples of HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photography

HDR (High Dynamic range) is a new photographic technique which blends three different exposures to create romantic, dreamlike images. There are lots of HDR photos and tutorials on the web to look at.

I've tried this a few times, but didnt get it to work very well. Maybe I messed up the exposure. Wish I had bracketing on my camera, but it's pretty easy to set up the exposures. IR photography is also very nice.

I take 3 photos, one normal, 2 stops under, 2 stops over. E.g. 2secs, 8secs, 1/2sec, and the photomatix software I downloaded does the rest.

I have been trying to do this for the past three days, without much luck. But then I am just editing the exposure in Photoshop Raw and then using Photoshop to create and HDR. Everything just looks over edited, too processed. I just think I'm trying to do it to the wrong type of pictures. This weekend I think I will go out and try to shoot something other than candid shots of my daughter and see how that turns out.
