Tea Party Spreads to Australia

How wonderful it is to see this resurgence in the spirit of freedom lighting fires worldwide!

More bad news for socialists here in the United States and worldwide: the Tea Party movement has spread to yet another country.

Several months ago we learned that the Tea Party movement–which primarily champions limited government and fiscal responsibility–had spread to the country that inspired the first Tea party here in America–England. Of course, who better to start the Tea Party movement in England than MEP Daniel Hannan who thrilled the world when he took British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to task for his irresponsible governance of Great Britain. He thrilled American patriots yet again when he spoke out againstbringing socialized health care to the United States, telling Americans, “Please do not make that mistake.” He also urged Americans not to make other socialist mistakes of Europe.

Now The Australian reports the movement has come to Australian shores.

Reluctant spokesman David Goodridge – “just call me the website editor” – says the grassroots movement has no plans to register as a political party, won’t stand candidates and won’t accept politicians as members.

“We’ve been around for a little while but we made a conscious decision not to involve ourselves at the last election – we’re not a political party, we are a political movement, we influence parties that already exist,” he said.

Mr Goodridge says the Australian party has not received US funding – “that would not be appropriate, they don’t want to interfere” – but it is looking to update and adapt US training videos for its own purposes.

Interesting. America's traditional rights and liberties were based upon those inherited from our English forebears, which the "Aussies" are also heirs to.

I despise the Tea Party. These are people who stood back uncaring as Bush and the Republicans ran up a huge deficit while passing budget-busting cuts and throwing billions of dollars away on overseas adventures to help ingrateful Middle Easterners. And now they're suddenly concerned about runaway spending?

They're merely puppets of the neo-conservatives.

When obama was uh hem elected it gathered steam with the masive bank bailouts and spending, which far exceeded anything Bush spent on the war.
Also keep in mind that the Democrats approved Bush's spending habits.

I find this growing spirit of limited government and limited spending tremendously exciting. I just hope the Libertarian elements of the Tea Party win out in the end against the fundamentalist Christian loonies who dominate the front pages.

I'm not fond of Obama, but you aren't stating that Bush or McCain wouldn't have ordered the bailouts, are you?

The Democrats, at least, are honest about their projects requiring heavy taxation. The Republicans want to simultaneously cut taxes while spending more money. The same politicans who ran wild from 2000-2008 are pretending to be financial responsible 1950's style Republicans and getting pats on the head from the tea partiers.

I find this growing spirit of limited government and limited spending tremendously exciting. I just hope the Libertarian elements of the Tea Party win out in the end against the fundamentalist Christian loonies who dominate the front pages.

I'd like a see Libertarianism gain a lot of steam and the Republicans jettison all the religious nuts. Since it's not viable to ban political parties, I'd like to see 4 major parties instead of 2. Sadly, our entire system is designed to keep the current corruption unchecked. The Zionists love that we have only two strong parties - both of which support them.

I'm somewhat involved in the TEA party movement. Actually they are against the neo-cons almost as much as they are the Democrats.

A few months ago I was very mad when we went to a rally and half of the thing was prayer and praising Palin. I think I may have made statements on here about how I was worried the Christian extreme was trying to take it over.

The old Rino part of the republican party is very much at odds with the TEA party movement as they have found out they cannot control them. If a canadate is not conservative enough the TEA party supports a independant that is. Also they are very much for ousting the incumbants and term limits. Meaning if you have a jackass Republican( McCain) then get rid of him just as much as if he were a leftist Democrat.

Yes, in the end I am concerned that the neo-cons will hijack the movement or any other group. One of the things that made me mad was first off the leftist called us racist, so the head organizers bent to the pressure and now even the small rallies there are few token negroes. Then again it never was supposed to be about race.

Funny is when I hear adds saying the TEA party is supporting this person or that person. First off they really don't offically endorse any canidate or party. What they do endorse is small government and accountability.

The origanal idea was to just be heard crazy how things shift sometimes.

The tea party movement is awesome, I've gone to a rally and really enjoyed it. It made me so proud to see regular white Americans rediscover their history and start demanding sanity in government. Assuming that we can get more regular people to join I think that the libertarians will win out. The greater the persecution by the hated democrats and republicans the greater our popularity will become. I know its viewed as an American thing but I think that each country should have a tea party to check the actual political parties. I recomend reading the 5000 Year Leap, despite its heavy Christian leaning its still very enjoyable and will help you learn about tea party philosophy.

Yup. I hope most "Tea Party" folks are able to smell a rat with the ongoing attempted hijacking of the 'movement' by neo-con hacks and stooges such as Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, GOP leadership in general.
I wish Palin, for one, would shut-up and just quickly fade back into obscurity.
I guess this thread was supposed to be about Australia, though...
