Tuisto is no doubt one of the most mysterious divinities in Teutonic spirituality. We do know that he was the divine ancestor of the Teutonic peoples, according to Tacitus's Germania. His exact identity, however, is a subject of debate.

Tuisto is cognate with Tvastr from a root meaning 'two stars'.
