On the contrary, the fact that Great Britain (or better: Churhill) wanted this war at all costs. Note that Heß flew to Scotland in May 1941 when the German success was unstopped and the war still had no worldwide dimensions. The documents about Heß´s flight are kept sealed until the year 2017.
To the British, Heß was an annoying relict of WW2 whose release would most probably have brought up many questions about the oh so noble allied war motives.
The war was lead against Germany not National Socialism and the treatmeant of Rudolf Heß shows this even more clearly than the allied desinterest in the Anti-Hitler conspirers around Stauffenberg & Co.
The annual Rudolf Heß memorial marches in Wunsiedel each August are the largest nationalist demonstrations in Germany with participants from all around Europe.

Supposing of course that this really was Rudolph Hess who was murdered in Spandau. There are a huge (!!) number of things that simply do not add up and make one question what is the truth of the matter. The wounds on his body did not add up with accounts he said of how he had been wounded previously, important facts about people that he should have known and dates etc were all 'forgotten' or simply could not recall. No signature ever being identified to be his. The fact that many of his fellow NS officers almost were saying that the man at the Nuremburg Trials was not him etc.. Hermann Goering, Hitler's Luftwaffe commander, also tried at Nuremberg, had this to say about the supposed Hess on trial there: "Hess? Which Hess? The Hess you have here? Our Hess? Your Hess?" Many of these things just do not add up.

The above statement was probably a consequence of Hess' putative amnesia, not the fact that he was, literally, a physically different person.

Yet Kelley found him in general in good mental health. The paranoia was not serious and the delusional states berief and disconnected. Most other mental functions were normal, with the excepetion of what Kelley called 'a spotty amnesia'. Some things he could remember very clearly, principally connected with the delusions of attempted murder, but even recent facts which a conventional amnesiac should have been able to remember, Hess appeared to lose within days. Kelley diagnosed a personality with a propensity to 'hysterical and obsessive' behaviour. [...] The amnesia might be explained as one that was self-induced, or conscious, but the power of hysterical auto-suggestion in such a mind made the memory loss none the less real for the individual experiencing it...

Hess was judged to be a voluntary amnesiac, who deliberately used memory loss as a defence mechansim in British hands until the behaviour became to some extent 'habitual'. It was considered that Hess would not abandon this most acute form of psychological defence while he remained under threat of punishment or exposure.

On 29 November, the four prosecuting counsels signed the following statement: 'It is our position that the defendant Rudolf Hess is fit to stand trial.' [...] The psychiatric evidence was presented first. Then Hess was invited to speak. To the consternation of his lawyer he calmly announced that he had recovered from his amnesia:

My memory is again in order. The reason why I simulated loss of memory was tactical. In fact it is only that my power of concentration is slightly reduced but in conflict [sic] to that my capacity to follow the trial, my capacity to defend myself, to put questions to witnesses or even to answer questions -- in these my capacities are not influenced. I emphasize that I bear full responsibility for everything that I have done...

Whatever the exact mechanism that jolted Hess out of amnesia, his claim that memory loss was merely tractical was misleading. A substantial part of the amnesia was not feigned. [...] In fact Hess took weeks to recover his memory, and then never fully. As the trail proceeded he began once more to manifest serious neurotic behaviour and in early march 1946 almost complete memory loss returned. His memory span was little more than half a day.
