I tried to grow some oaks from nuts, but they didn't even germinate. Usually I am pretty good with plants.
My family have planted some evergreens and chestnut trees with better luck.

In a way. Back in primary school, whenever you reach a certain milestone with regards to a sporting achievement, you get a tree planted for you.
And i got one.

I have rolled them in newspaper and kept it moist. Acorns attract a very small larva that eats them from the inside out, often you can't see the bore hole in the shell. Never use Acorns that have dried out, use them fresh. Oak trees mainly spread by Squirrels hiding fresh Acorns in the ground.
