They are not there because they were elm trees, Dutch elm disease has really taken its toll on the elm trees here.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

I agree, it is awesome to see a tree twice as tall as a two-story house...when you planted it as a sapling.

Had planted an oak tree in every garden of every house I had lived in. Use acorns I gathered in the fall for it.

    Tree Plantings

I have planted trees, thousands of them. One summer while in High School I worked for the State Department of Agricultural and Department of Transportation. Our job, plant trees in long lines (miles long) to prevent wind based soil erosion and to keep dust storms from reoccuring. Also, to keep wind blown snow from shutting down the highways in winter. Am I tree hugger? No, I was more interested in the paycheck.

As a landscaper, I have planted and cared for many , many trees in my life. When I was younger I used to work at a tree lot, where I was responsible for the maintenance of five acres of trees, every day.

But, the real reason I posted on this subject is to share what I did when my daughters were born, I took their placentas and planted them under a weeping willow tree, and a live oak tree.

Here in the Midwest, we're losing millions of Ash trees to the emerald ash borer.

I wish people would bother to educate themselves. I've heard people scoffing at the posters imploring campers to procure firewood on-site to maintain the quarantine of affected areas.

My father had the whole bunch of us planting things on the family property all through our childhood. We've each got "our" tree. He and my younger brother plant trees every year for our own Christmas trees, also. But I live in a townhouse right now, so no tree planting for me.

I am doing survival training in many areas of the US. I always take seeds and smuggle them into California.

I place the seeds into the ground where I feel they like it there and may grow there.

If you eat an apple and spit the seeds out, then you are doing what the apple wants you to do. Simple communication and pretty effective.

It was earth day and I was in the 8th grade at a young age.

    Was it rewarding? I guess.
National Socialism is the only salvation for Germanics and Europids everywhere. Capitalism, libertarianism, and communism is the enemy.

National socialized collectivism must prevail over radical individualism.
