He's part-Cherokee.Jones was born in San Saba, Texas, the son of Lucille Marie (née Scott), a police officer, school teacher, and beauty shop owner, and Clyde C. Jones, an oil field worker; the two were married and divorced twice. Jones, an eighth-generation Texan, had a Cherokee grandparent. He was a resident of Midland, Texas and attended Robert E. Lee High School.
Do we have to go over this again & the propensity of many Americans to claim a Cherokee ancestor when they have no American Indian ancestors. I'm not saying he doesn't have a Cherokee grandparent but it would be more believable if the Indian grandparent was something other then the Cherokee. There just wasn't enogh Cherokees to account for all the people claiming Cherokee ancestry.
