    You can find the entire book (in English) on books.google.com if you look around a little.

    Look here http://www.museumstuff.com/learn/top...b::Translation

    or here http://tripatlas.com/An_Essay_on_the...he_Human_Races

    (both with links to books.google)

    Note though that the there available english translation is incomplete (it left out some chapters obviously). Since the book is still in print, it might be difficult to find a complete online source with the translation made by Adrian Collins.

    I found Gobineau underwhelming and it's difficult to even tell he's a racialist until the end of the first volume. He also oddly speaks well of minute negro admixture...

    Nevertheless, it's an important, if flawed work, and provides insight into the origins of early racial theory given that Gobineau is generally regarded as the first racialist writer. What I found especially interesting is that he wasn't especially anti-Semitic and contrasts sharply with some of the hoary conspiracism and over the top boilerplate that came out of the Third Reich. In fact, it's interesting that most of the great pre-Nazi racial theorists were very far from being fixated on Jews.
