At Which Altitude Do You Live?

    Hi Skadites ,

well, our members live almost everywhere in the world. Some in towns, some on the countryside, some at the coast and some in-country or in mountainous areas. I think it could be interesting to have an overview about the residences of our users and their altitude. So please vote! You can add some more details about your area of residence in a reply.

I live in the uplands of the Bavarian Forest in Eastern Bavaria. The region has many hills and forests and my village lies between 650 and almost 800 meters above sea level.

Rolling hills, dark forest, the castle jutting up in the background, that hiking trail…an ideal landscape perfectly suited for Germanics.

I live, not quite on the coast, but on the more coastal region of North West England, rather than the more mountainous central and northerly regions. My land is a low lying fertile one. I don't know of what altitude it is, but it's certainly very low.

Perhaps more interestingly, however, I have a lodge up here:

(taken from Kirkstone, a mountain pass being home to The Kirkstone Pass Inn, the third highest pub in England, standing near it's summit.)

At the foot of Froswick in the far eastern fells of the English lakeland. Not sure of the altitude, but the surrounding mountains are of varying size, reaching a high of 828 metres (2,718 ft)

My GPS-enabled exercise watch informes me that I am about 40 m above sea level. But then I am only 10 km from the sea.

The village extends from about 880m to 1050m above sea level; we're more or less at the bottom of it, at the utmost north-western end, we're at 905m above sea level.

(Yes, there's a 300 metre vertical drop before the other side of the valley )

That“s right, I love to live there and no one could place me elsewhere. It“s my home and the home of my ancestors. The castle in the background of the photo you“ve mentioned is one of the many medieval constructions in my region: Castle Weissenstein, built ~1100 A.D.

Oh Godwinson, I“m not asking for the precise altitude of your house if not available! The altitude of a nearby village or milestone would do.

Amazing, your home region looks similar to mine: The hills, the forests, the solitude. I can see some slight differences in flora but I“m sure I“d like it there. Just remove the gypsies and Romanians.
