    Nordics and Angels

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that almost every drawing of an angel depicts a Nordic, or at least Germanic looking Man/Woman? Isn't it interesting that Angels are supposed to be the epitome of beauty, and they look like us Nordic/Germanic people? Maybe there's a reason for that.... Haven't seen many mixed race angels lately

    Examples follow

In my opinion angels are generally represented as too infantile to be nordic in any substantial way.
Life is a well of delight; but where the rabble also drink, there all fountains are poisoned.

I especially like Flemish painter Jan van Eyck's The Adoration of the Lamb (Angels singing), which depicts fair-haired angels:

Hans Memling depicted angels as fair-haired as well in the left panel of Christ Surrounded by Musician Angels:

'Well, what are you?" said the Pigeon. "I can see you're trying to invent something!" "I-I'm a little girl," said Alice, rather doubtfully. She found herself at last in a beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains.

The pedestrian explanation, which might also be the truth, is that these painters were European, and had seen few if any non-Europeans, so their paintings were modeled upon Europeans. If the painters were Dutch or German, of course they look Germanic.
