In old Norse, was a descriptor to be put before or after the thing it's describing?
Example, to say "King Hrothgar", would it be "žengill Hrothgar" or Hrothgar "žengill"?

I believe the title is written after the first name and before the surname.
I hev no idea where you are going with žengill because it certainly doesnt mean king.
you can say either Haraldur Konśngur of Konśngur Haraldur but the previous is more usual.
someone told me that at present there are a hundred vernaculars in Norway so old Norse must not quite have been a single uniform language
