Is anybody here interested in the Nasjonal Samling?
Is anybody here interested in the Nasjonal Samling?
Yes, but I think the Ragnarok movement is much more interesting.
Qusling's old house (Gimle) has been turned into a jewish centre to remember the Holocaust.
Disgusting.
Norwegian NS is in so far interesting as it is the only NS movement that doesn't need Hitler. It had it's very own Great Minds and figureheads long before the war. I am thinking of Vidkun Quisling but also of Knut Hamsun. But also of Johan Bernhard Hjort, Jonas Lie, Gulbrand Lunde and others.
Everything what Quisling and Hamsun wrote, said or published was immediately translated into up to 13 European languages by Dr. Goebbels and published all over Europe. Both Quisling and Hamsun were regular contributors for Das Reich weekly, Goebbels house-paper for the more intellectually oriented readership (VB was more the street-seller designed for working class readership).
What i am going to say is, that in Hitler's envisioned New Europe the Norwegian intellectual and ideological influence would have been disproportionally much higher than it's 5 million population at the time suggests.
EW May 1943:

Interesting movement indeed. Had more members than the resistance(not all idealogical, but more likely because of practical reasons), were lead by a former officer of danish descent, were to some degree independant as MCP says and some were even more ideological than the German SS. They even went as far as calling them "sump-germaner".
Nontheless, they were never accepted by the norwegian public and were brutally punished after the war. Like his wife, who was actually being guarded by a couple of old NSers until her death in the 1980s. 35 years after, and still completly devoted, the soldiers followed orders until the end
I believe that there were for many years after the Second World War periodic reunions of Norwegian comrades of the Waffen-SS and that these were very well-attended functions and attracted some media attention and press coverage.
