The Vagoths: Evidence That the Goths Originated in Germany

The Vagoths, also known as Valagoths, are a interesting subdivision of the Goths. Why you may ask? Because some European countries have the name of a Germanic country, Deutschland/Germany, in their language as an origin to the Vagoths.

    This is what Wikipedia says:

"According to Lithuanian linguist Kazimieras Būga, the name of Germans, Germany in Lithuanian and Latvian languages (“Germany”: Lith. Vokia, Vokietija, Latv. Vācija, “German (person)”: Lith. vokietis, Latv. vācietis ) is derived from the name of Vagoths (*Vāk(ia)-goth). From Baltic languages originate Finnish roots Vuoja, Vuojo and Estonian Oju, Oja in their name for Gotland: Vuojola, Vuojonmaa, Vuojanmaa, Ojumaa, Ojamaa (“maa” - land).

The Valagoths were a tribe mentioned by Nennius.".

    So, what do you think?

Interesting message! Did you read Hachmann's book
"Die Gothen und Skandinavien"? Hachmann wrote that
there are no proves for a Scandinavian origin of the
    Goths.

Do you know that there exist a prove for the Swedish
origin, the so called stone circles? And how did the
    Swedish Goths arrive in Sweden?

"Origin" is always a relative term. If, as we know, the Goths lived for a time in the area of the Vistula, then it's natural to find the Lithuanians calling them Germans. I think Jordanes even asserted that the Goths had migrated from Scandinavia around 1500 BC. So what was their "origin" to people living around 100 AD?
