    Greetings from Mercia!

Hello everyone - I'm new here but I'm sure some will know me from elsewhere. I'm from Mercia in the Midlands of England, an ancient Anglo-Saxon (specifically Angle) kingdom with it's own distinct culture and identity. I'm a founding member of Sovereign Mercia, which seeks independence for Mercia from the United Kingdom. I look forward to some very interesting discussions.

Welcome here, I hope you enjoy yourself. If you have any questions feel free to ask any of the staff members.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

Shropshire, one of Mercia's most picturesque counties - I know it very well.

Our organisation's website is at http://sovereignmercia.angelfire.com/

    Welcome Wulfhere.

I see your are interested in regionalism, as I am. I think it is important to look after regional cultures, dialects etc, not just national. But you say you seek full independence from the UK, and I then assume this means parting from England as well. Do you not think Mercia is similar enough to the other Anglo-Saxon regions, to form an English nation? I mean I support your regional ideas, and some political autonomousity for regions in many countris could be good, I just thought full independence seemed a bit far in the case of regions in England, compared to for example Italy or France (since they are less homogenous nation states in regional terms).

The Mercians are the true English - the Angles. Southern England was settled by Saxons and Jutes, and Northern England and East Anglia, though originally Angle, were later settled by Danes. By separating ourselves we can better preserve English - Angle - culture.

    Ok,

I became interested in this nude woman Sytia on your site, what sort of training has she done, and how did she get involved? Your movement seem to be a bit New Age, or similar, is this correct?

Sytia is the daughter of one of our members and has trained in channelling and directing earth energies for the benefit of the land and its people. We don't regard ourselves as New Age, but take the best from the past and adapt it to present circumstances. All Pagan religions evolve in this way.

    Mercain regionalism. Interesting.

However, I have seen your website elsewhere, and am in two minds as to whether to take it seriously.

If it is not just a p-take, good luck!
