I Need Help Identifying a Painting...

A friend had this small image on his computer and I think it's a stirring representation of the life-cycle.

He said he thought it was an NS-era piece, but he was't sure. If anyone could tell me the artist (Fidus? Diefenbach?) and tell me where a larger copy as a print, online or in a book could be found, I'd be eternally grateful.

The fact that the cycle ends at the Life Rune, reminiscent of the classic Waffen SS grave markers that dotted military cemeteries as far east as Stalingrad, certainly suggests that it is either an NS era piece ... perhaps done by an enlightened contemporary ... nice work in any event.

Thanks! If only we knew who made it...

EDIT: the design you found has a celtic cross instead of a life rune on the top. it appears that it is a Chinese copy, as seen here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/46563100/handmade-papercut-in-black-life-cirlcle?ref=sr_gallery_19&ga_search_quer y=LIFE+circle&ga_search_type=all&ga_page =13&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

I Need Help Identifying the Source of This...

I have found this common painting that I would like to contribute to the "Germanic Picture of the day", thread, but I wasn't able to find information on the source of this painting, so I'm unsure of who to attribute credit to. I found several images of the painting on the web, but none of the sources identified a sources/artist of the piece I think it is titled "The Coronation of Charlemagne".

So my question is: Is there anybody who is familiar with this piece who knows the artist/source of it and if possible, the date the work was created? If so, your feedback would be very much appreciated.

You already have the answer you were looking for but for future reference, if you use Firefox as a web browser (not sure about other browsers), get the add-on Tinyeye. Once you have it just right click on any picture and click "search tinyeye" and it will load a page of all the copies of that pic that its engine has crawled through. Common pics like the one you posted have heaps of links and say a brand new picture of you would probably have none. Bottom line, it is worth adding on to Firefox.

    here's a link to their website: http://www.tineye.com/
