    Matured Germanic/Gaelic Newbie Saying Hiyaz

    Greetings lovely Skadi community,

My name is Bulstrode, in honor of my Grandparent's Saxon family name.

I've heard recently that you guys don't let anyone(?) on the forum who isn't %100 Germanic, I certainly agree that is a good policy, but I'd be lying if I said I was %100 Germanic myself. (I did indeed read all the rules, I didn't see anything about being fully Germanic to post, I may have missed it though)

Honestly though, I'm of %100 Northwestern European heritage, in typical American terms, I'd say I'm probably %50 Gael, %50 Germanic. Of course that %50 Gael probably has plenty of Norse, and the %50 Germanic probably has plenty of Gaulish/Briton, so I'm pretty sure I'll fit in.

Now to the actual intro, hi, I think I had an account here at one time, lone ago, but I was younger and less mature then, hence the topic title. I've come back, and I'm ready to lurk, post, and enjoy the atmosphere; after all, it isn't every day you get to be around people who actually care about their heritage.

About me; I consider myself a Pagan. I still haven't found myself yet though, I mostly just revere my ancestors and nature, I would revere the Gods but we know so little about Germanic/Celtic Paganism in it's real form that it makes it difficult for me to embrace it. Plus, Paganism has been infected by degenerate hippies, it makes me sick how far they bend their backs to avoid being called racist. (oh yes, let's practice our culture yet at the same time promote the death of our people through multiculturalism, makes sense, right?)

As to my appearance, I have red hair, what I believe to be a Nordic face, broad shoulders typical of the Scots, milky skin, and gray eyes. I could pass for either a Viking or Gaulish warrior, and plan to do so at Ren Faires when I get the money for kits.

Mmm, so that's it, if my Gaelic roots are unacceptable, I understand and bid you all a grand auld day. If however they are acceptable, then wuuzzuuupp!!!

With Scots, and their diaspora, being descended to near-equal amounts from Celts and Germanics, with the Germanic substrate being important, we generally give Scots the benefit of doubt - it is oft not readily separable whether a given ancestor was of Germanic or Celtic instruction.

The prerequisite in the special Scottish situation is that people commonly identify themselves as Germanic and identify with the Germanic heritage of Scotland. I.e. whilst we count Scotland as a Germanic country, someone pushing the Gaelic language beyond reproach as his "true heritage" and constantly talking about "Us and our Irish Celtic brothers" isn't going to be what we're looking for here.

This also applies to the respective threads in the Scottish subsection, these should primarily revolve around the Germanic heritage of Scotland. The odd post respecting and praising the Celtic heritage of Scotland also is due and acceptable, but Scottish interest should be primarily focussed on its Germanic heritage, as we're a Germanic forum and not a Celtic forum.

Anyway, welcome to Skadi Forum, hope you like it here.
-In kalte Schatten versunken...

(Heimdalls Wacht, In kalte Schatten versunken, stanzas 4-6)

    Welcome.
The sense of honor is of so fine and delicate a nature that
it is only to be met with in minds which are naturally noble or
cultivated by good examples and a refined education.
