    From Eireann

    Wassail, ladies & lads!
I´d like to know if anyone here also enjoys folk songs from Scandinavia and a good Viking Metal, I appreciate discussing about musical instruments origin and tradition among all Europe. Fell free to address me
Fair notice to Dear Admin. Staff: I suggest you to include the option «Ireland» as well, together with the other country/nationality options. I´m resident now in this beautiful Emerald Island, a land which still keeps remarkable traces and evidences of Viking past and settlements. Thus, many Irish pals would join this forum, and recognize themselves in it. Beside that, the county I live is a favourite chosen destiny for many German workers, another presence here is a small community of Faroese people, the landscape is practically the same: Northern Ireland = Faroe Islands.
    Shall we share deep lore!

I believe the reason why Skadi doesnt have an Ireland sub-forum is that the Irish, even if some are of germanic roots, the vast majority of them focus on their Celtic heritage and wish to be identified as Celts.

and yes, i listen to folk and folk metal

I think Skadi only has countries that were founded by Germanics. It would not be right to include a country just because there is a large modern Germanic immigrant community there.

    Helly- Oooooooo

    Hail, Earl Olav!
I believe in that too, o´course - I merely suggested that as a facility- cause some Faroese like me, Danish and other Norse immigrants live here Na Eireann - by the way I visited your flourish Alba land, beautiful people, Nature wilderness, Shetland festivals and misterious, magic Island of Skye!

P.S. I referred Ireland should be included in the location register option...

    Welcome to Skadi, Haselfuchs.

Olav is right about the reason for the lack of an Irish message board. The issue has been discussed here.

People with a Germanic background and identity residing in Ireland are of course welcome to participate on Skadi.

    Welcome.

    Greetings Haselfuch.

Are you in Donegal? Just a guess.

Regarding inviting your Irish chums; unfortunately that plan won't get off the ground. About the only Irish members here are a few dinosaurs like me whose membership pre-dates the time when Skadi became exclusively for Germanics.

The Irish are "Celts" you see, and not "Germanic". Quite unlike the populations of for instance, the UK, which are now overwhelmingly Germanic and no longer really Celtic at all, (Scotland being perhaps the best example of this) don't you know?
Close observation may result in feelings of horror, wonder and awe at world you find yourself inhabiting.

    Welcome here, Haselfuchs.

I think Skadi only offers the country list of predominantly or partially Germanic countries (and regions) and not all countries where Germanics may live. But there's the European Union and Other options to select if your residential country is missing. Or just pick the region, as I do.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the stay.

Could be Cavan or Monaghan, too.

There's a bit of Ulster-Scot in me. That might Germanic or Celtic or a bit of both. I don't worry about it. I've nothing against the Celtic peoples - i extend my hand to them in European fellowship
