Then why do you write "Germanics", all the more most soccer fans today, in particular those of the big commercial clubs, don't care a shit about their own Germanic being?!

Huh? The BRD-team, which had won in 54, 74 and 90, is not just yet a Latin state.

Well, Horst, it still has some symbolic value when "your" town or country wins something. I am, however, well aware of this particular issue you raise.

Just for the record, I haven't been to a watch a professional soccer match in the UK since the mid-80s because I refuse to line the pockets of a load of Negroes but I do enjoy watching the sport on TV and support those teams which are (at least nominally) Germanic when in competition with others.

Actually, for a top class team, FC Bayern Munich is surprisingly German, and surprisingly Germanic when we consider the players in the Final: Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Butt, Badstuber, Müller (German), van Buyten (Flemish), Robben (Dutch) in the starting squad; Klose (Silesian-born ethnic German, despite the forename) for the substitue; van Gaal (Coach: Dutch).

7/11 in the starting squad, 8/13 used plus the coach is - in this day and age - a miracle for the CL final.

Football is a Catholic sport and I fully expect a Catholic country to win world cup 2010.
...And since it is such a Catholic sport we have good old inter-Catholic rivalries such as Glasgow Rangers vs. Celtic Glasgow, eh?

    Champions League Football

All those interested in this sport will know what a stranglehold the Spanish teams have on European football at present. It was therefore a fantastic achievement for England's Chelsea to knock out the champions Barcelona in the first semi-final and next up it's Bayern Munich versus Real Madrid.

So, all the best to the Germans later this evening and here's hoping that - against all the odds - we can have an ALL-GERMANIC final this year

Not a follower of football, but how many of the team are actually English or at least Germanic racially?

Ah, I wondered who would be the first person to ask me this

Only 2 of them are English I'm afraid (Jon Terry & Frank Lampard), plus Ashley Cole (whose status I'll let you decide for yourself )

Such are the vagaries of top-level, globalised football these days that the decisive goal was scored by a Spaniard against a Spanish team, but all I go on is the town/country they represent or it all becomes far too complicated

I'm finding it hard to be as enthusiastic about it. Barcelona are currently the torch bearers of pretty much everything that is good about football. While Chelsea, on the other hand, is more or less its complete antithesis. The vast majority of Barcelona's main stall is Spanish or even Catalonian, while Chelsea has only two or three English players, and the rest are either un-Germanic or un-Europid altogether. It is the heroic, gallant "Nationalists" against the cynical, dirty globalists. So to speak...

The only positive outcome I can see of this defeat, is that Bayern now may finally stand a chance at winning any prospective final.
