    Nordic Nose Bump?

The nasal index is leptorrhine, and there is usually a noticeable transition from the nasal skeleton to the soft parts of the nose
I think I read somewhere that this is called the Nordic bump. Not certain though.
I have never really seen one that clearly demonstrates this transition from nasal skeleton to the cartilageneous part of the nose and so was hoping if anyone could post any pictures.

Its very frequent, but nost just among Nordid, but also other, morphologically related types. I have it myself too by the way. Basically it can be related to "wavy" nasal forms and both wavy and convex nasal shapes are both more common in mature-progressive and masculine forms as well as in males of all races - the opposite is true for concave, which is more often related to infantile-reduced, primitive and feminine forms.

In profile you can see the wavy shape and from the front you see a thicker-bony part at the upper nose on the living.

    Here some examples, different degrees:

    Agrippa:

Who is the third gentleman from the left in the top row, and where is he from? He looks like my father's side of the family (including myself). That nose, head shape, and facial shape are very typical in my family.

I kind of have this bump as descibed in Agrippa's post, and many of my other family members do as well. However many also have some-what concave noses (such as myself). Sort of an odd combination.

He was posted by a member of this forum some time ago - I asked if I can use him as example if I remember correctly, because he is fairly typical for a Nordid standard type.

In some cases the wavy nose might show up if you combine a convex-aquiline nose with a straight or even concave one.

So it can be both a form on its own or the result of mixture.

In the case of Nordoids, I'd assume that certain portion of the Proto-Nordoid Mediterranoids had convex noses and they mixed up with local straight-nosed or even concave nosed forms (mostly Cromagnoid I'd assume), so that this kind of mixed nose became more common than elsewhere too, though I consider it an original trait as well, which can be observed in more robust Aurignacoids quite often - because of the deeper nasal depression and following prominent-strong nasal bone - not just in Nordid, but in Northern Central-Eastern-Wester-Europe primarily in Nordid influenced individuals.

So in my opinion it can be both, an original trait or the result of mixture. If concave family members are present, the latter is more likely though one cannot say it for sure.

Thanks a lot for the photos!!

I"m sorry but I don"t think I really see the wavy or transition in most of the pics. except for the guy on the second row of the 3rd column. :

But I think I get the picture of what the transition is supposed to look like. I happen to have it to, if it really is what I think it is. My brother has it much more prominent than I. He also has greater facial height and is also taller than me.

I think it's pretty clear in most pictures, just compare this attached image with the original without arrows, just click on the attachment to enlarge it:
