Post US Protests Over Immigration Law

...there were banners calling for a boycott of Arizona, and even one portraying the state's governor, Jan Brewer, as Hitler.

    (Rolleyes...)

Tens of thousands of people have joined protests in the US against a controversial anti-immigration law introduced in Arizona.

The biggest protest took place in Los Angeles, but others were planned in more than 70 cities across the country.

The law requires local police to question anyone they suspect of being in the United States illegally.

The protesters say the law could lead to Hispanics being targeted, and inflame racial tensions.

In Los Angeles, police estimated 100,000 people had joined a march led by singer Gloria Estefan.

"It's the right of every American to protect where they live," she told the crowd.

"But that doesn't give them a reason to place a law that could create racism and discrimination."

The BBC's Rajesh Mirchandani, at the rally, says there were banners calling for a boycott of Arizona, and even one portraying the state's governor, Jan Brewer, as Hitler.

Many of the protesters waved the US flag, while some carried slogans appealing for US President Barack Obama to intervene.

The law was signed earlier this month by Arizona's Republican Governor Jan Brewer, who said it "protects every American citizen".

Under the new rules, those unable to show that they are legally allowed in the US could be given six-month jail sentences and fined $2,500 (about £1,600).

Supporters of the bill say it will help bring illegal immigration under control in Arizona - a state which is the main entry point for undocumented immigrants into the US.

The state is home to an estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants.

I reckon if the govenor plays the 'economic card' instead of letting the left wingers fight with racism comments she might stand a chance.

Ie:, It cost us so much, blah blah blah dollars and cents to stop the drugs, robberies, damage, crime etc etc, that we are going broke 'supporting' far left policies of O-wanka.

If she says we are putting x dollars and cents to police to examine, so and so, we are putting x dollars and cents to this scheme and that, so as at the end of the day, economically Arizona can survive. Current trends are negative, we aim to bring it back to positive economic growth. If they take that emotionless stance, American's should be able to blow off all the racism slander. Ie, Economic Diversion. Works wonder with logic!

Starting to think I could be a polie now. Just need diversion after diversion.

Plus they should've used the prop-g technique, instead of calling it the 'Immigration Policy' you need to call it something nice like, 'The Going Home Policy'. Ie, send the slags home, NOW!

L.A.'s May Day immigration rally is nation's largest

There were 60,000 marching in Los Angeles, quite a bit under the 100,000 minimum the organizers were expecting. Despite the spin put on the success of the demonstrations by the mainstream (lefty) media, it was a bust. Maybe some people realized that very large demonstrations (like on May 1, 2007) would just create a bigger backlash among native-born Americans.

As many as 60,000 immigrants and their supporters join a peaceful but boisterous march through downtown to City Hall, waving flags and holding signs blasting the harsh new immigration law in Arizona.

Galvanized by Arizona's tough new law against illegal immigrants, tens of thousands of marchers took to the streets in Los Angeles on Saturday as the city led the nation in May Day turnout to press for federal immigration reform.

As many as 60,000 immigrants and their supporters joined a peaceful but boisterous march through downtown Los Angeles to City Hall, waving American flags, tooting horns and holding signs that blasted the Arizona law. The legislation, which is set to take effect in midsummer, makes it a crime to be in Arizona without legal status and requires police to check for immigration papers....

    The entire article.
I find ity very surreal that citizens of another country can march in our streets demanding the right to colonize our cities as though it was their God-given human right.

So do very many other Americans. The illegals did this a few years ago and it backfired on them. The sight of hundreds of thousands of illegal invaders marching in our streets under foreign flags demanding that we acquiesce to their every whim enraged Americans of all stripes. More than anything the displays of force scuttled the nascent "immigration reform" (mass amnesty) talk in Congress.

This is one issue that is truly bi-partisan. The party elites of both parties want the mass illegal immigration, while the rank and file of both parties oppose it.

Two words come to mind when I see some "Wet Back" marching in our streets with that ugly Aztec flag and those words are "Nuke Mexico".

As a matter of fact I'm thinking of having some bumper stickers made that says just that "Nuke Mexico. They remind me of cockroaches and are even
the same color as those dirty little pests.

What can we do to support Arizona? I'm talking about realistic, concrete gestures to let Arizona know that they're not alone on this.

What is needed id for more laws like this to pop up all over America. The Arizona law is not that radical, it only requires local law enforcement to enforce national immigration law. What should be the big story is that the federal governemnt intentionally does not enforce its own laws regarding immigration, or at least not when it comes to non-White aliens.

Maybe we need some bumper stickers suppporting immigration law enforcement, though in some parts of the US that could make you a target of Hispanic gangs or of law enforcement for being politically incorrect.

Some Leftists have talked about boycotts of AZ. If a person wants to be supportive, they should do business with companies from AZ.

It is common sense for a nation to defend it's borders. Even Mexico defends it's southern border.
Many immigrants are carrying a kilo or more of cocaine. They also break into homes, and destroy property. There are occasional murders if one runs into them in the rural areas, or at night.

The drug smuggling greatly strengthens the drug gangs, which leads to more crime.

I'd like to say "Mind your own business!" to the leftists who are making a big stink about this law. The people of Arizona are vastly in favor of the law, it's constitutional and in the best interest of their state as well as the entire country. Leave them to their own decision. I can't believe even many liberals would be that leftist to oppose this measure.

Go Arizona! And hopefully more states adopt similar legislation.
