    Post Attacked Pupil 'Was Disruptive'

There's only so much a person can take, teacher or not, and let's face it, there's no discipline in schools now, so the little turds can get away with it and take great pleasure in making teachers' lives a misery. But i'll bet this little so-and-so didn't see this coming. Maybe he'll think twice about causing trouble in the future.
I feel sorry for some teachers, having to put up with this crap, and being powerless to do anything about it, until they just break, and then stuff like this happens. I know i would probably have acted exactly the same way, had i been a teacher, which is why i decided not to pursue a career in his area!

A pupil who was attacked by a Nottinghamshire teacher was regularly in trouble for disrupting lessons, Nottingham Crown Court has heard.

Peter Harvey, 50, denies the attempted murder of a boy at All Saints' Roman Catholic School, Mansfield, while trying to restore class discipline.

The 14-year-old, who said he could not recall the attack, denied being a trouble-maker.

He was left with a fractured skull after being hit with a dumbbell.

Rex Tedd QC, defending, said the victim regularly disrupted lessons and was a "leading light" in classroom trouble.

“ It was like something had possessed him, you could see he wanted to kill him ”
    Witness, 15

Taking the stand, the boy denied accusations he had disrupted lessons nine times in the year before the attack.

A classmate admitted pupils would secretly film teachers as others tried to "wind them up". The footage was then shown around the school because it was "funny".

Students were filmed calling Mr Harvey a "psycho" in the moments leading up to the attack.

The court previously heard Mr Harvey dragged the boy into another room and beat him with the 3kg (6.6lb) dumbbell while shouting, "Die, die, die", in July 2009.

Mr Harvey denies attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, but has admitted a charge of causing grievous bodily harm.

    Class was 'rowdy'

The court was shown a recorded police interview with the victim, in which he described the moments before the attack.

The boy swore at the teacher after being disciplined for waving a wooden ruler and a Bunsen burner about, the court heard.

He told police the last thing he remembered was being dragged from the classroom.

He added: "I can remember all the class being noisy and rowdy.

"He said something to me and I swore at him. He said, 'I'll teach you' and swore at me.

"I can remember being dragged out of the classroom and into the corridor."

    'Looked calm'

Another boy, now aged 15, who witnessed the attack, told police Mr Harvey acted "as if possessed" when he grabbed the victim.

The witness said: "He was unusually scary, it wasn't normal.

"It was like something had possessed him, you could see he wanted to kill him, sort of thing.

"He was so angry it was like he had an extra power to do it."

Recalling the attack with the dumbbell, the witness added: "He was just striking him with it and was just saying 'Die, die, die'.

"Blood was pouring out of his face.

"His eyes were open and I thought he was dead.

"He [Mr Harvey] came out looking calm, like he hadn't done anything. A teacher had his arm around him."

    The trial continues.

"He was unusually scary, it wasn't normal."
    Not normal, as in:

"We expect our teachers to be frustrated, servile, timid, and able to take it…they’re so much more FUN this way!"

There used to be a time when the student was afraid of what awaited him at home if he acted up.
The young parents nowadays just don’t care.

I can only hope his fellow classmates were shocked or scared into seeing what may happen if they piss off the next teacher. I'm curious to know if they continued to behave badly after this happened.
Sadly, it will probably take a few more of these incidents, or a child's death, before anything is done about it.

Did he realy need to attack a child with a dumbbell though? A clip across the head would have probably done the trick!

There are few things I hate more than 13-15 year olds. In a perfect world, they wouldn't exist, but in an almost perfect world beating them to within an inch of their lives would be perfectly legal.

Discipline is no longer adhered to in our schools, and it is certainly a problem - but are you guys actually serious about pardoning this teacher's attack? If you weren't all native speakers of the English tongue I'd presume a language barrier, as not every non-native-speaker knows what a dumbbell is, but well...

That a pupil should disrupt a lesson is not ideal, but a relatively potent teacher can keep his kids mostly in check. A problem here is that when they train to be a teacher they learn all academic nonsense about paedagogics but take not one course in character building, which would help them keep them in check.

My parents both trained to be teachers, and whilst my father is lucky enough to be a primary teacher in the rural, my mother used to be a comprehensive school teacher in the city, and Gods, did she have rowdy classes! Imagine teaching in one of the most socially problematic areas of town, and being given the 4th-year (13-14 years), 3rd form (i.e. those regularly with an IQ similar to that of a beansprout) ... she did keep her temper though.

What usually works with pupils of whatever age, is little psychological tricks. Threats to cancel the class day out if they misbehave. Promises to default on homework if they shut up. Activities to strengthen the atmosphere. And most important, an authoritative voice. Got my parents through several years of teaching, certainly all my mother's pupils opined that she was "strict but fair", even the most rowdy were sincerely sorry to see her go when she quit her job when pregnant with my little brother.

Perhaps corporal punishment can or should be reintroduced in these increasingly problematic times - however any "reasonably" use of force to keep your pupils in restraint in my book does NOT include beating them over the head with a dumbbell! (For Thunor's sake, you don't do that to restrain your greatest foe, you'd do that if you set out to kill, or at least seriously injure him!)

(and if it is whipping ten times, then this is still a thousand times more acceptable than bludgeoning a kid's head with an instrument the weight of the rocks our backyard wall is made of!)

It's understandable that much of today's youth is so misbehaved that a teacher can easily falter, and lose their temper, and wish to throttle/strangulate/beat to a pulp one of those brats --- but if one pardons an attack with a dumbbell (!) as "understandable" since the pupil provoked me then this is making a victim out of the culprit, and we might just as well start arguing in favour of paedophiles, I mean after all it's "understandable" that he had to act on his urge, the 10-year-old girl in the miniskirt provoked him, right?

If beating a disruptive kid over the head with a dumbbell (!!!, again) became daily practice, then I shall be dead grateful that little misbehaved me got away with being one of the last to be routinely locked in a dark broomstick chamber until I decided to behave.
-In kalte Schatten versunken...

(Heimdalls Wacht, In kalte Schatten versunken, stanzas 4-6)

Comparing the admittedly not correct incident with sexual child abuse / paedophily is not going to help on that matter, really.

While the paedophil's "provokation" only happens in his screwed mind, a teacher who gets teased, terrorised and even attacked regularly, maybe over years, gets really provoked. It might be unfortunate that not all teachers are heroes who stand every kind of shit done to them, but the teacher is in this case a victim of both, terrorising brats who never learned to behave and know no limits and the system which doesnt give the teachers the necessary education they need themselves to handle a horde of wild pubescents.

Many of them break inside, I have seen that happen to people. My old english teacher for example. He started his career because he wanted to teach, wanted to share his knowledge, and he was a great person with a natural authority. This worked in my age, where the most of the kids in my class had some sort of decency still and got it when they'd overdone it. I often visited him and another teacher even after I had left school. What I've seen there after some years, honestly, I would have come with a baseball bat to school and place that thing on the table, written on it "home regulation". Lessons in that chaos horde were simply impossible, they did what they wanted, they randalised and vandalised, attacked each other or the teachers, and were impossible to calm down, beside the problem that half of them were unable to understand/speak German.

Luck for that horde was that the teacher just broke inside and did not freak out. Retired with a bit over 50, mentally broken and bodily sick. Same with the other teacher. They literally get annihilated, and to be honest, it is a miracle that not more of them freak out.

What are you talking about, Sigurd?
You think it has been advocated that what this teacher did was okay?
Hardly. I am relieved this brat wasn't killed, but a small part of me also said "Serves you right, you little shit!"
That was the extent of it.

Today's children are being groomed to behave like psychopaths. I seriously doubt that a character building course is going to help the ever timid and helpless teacher adapt to these warped young minds.
Besides, until you actually find yourself in such a situation there is no way for you to know what you would do yourself.

My parents are also trained educators. My father was the principal at a school that was mostly black and mexican and he kept that place respectable for many years.

How? Because his students were frightened of him!

He had a ruthless reputation for someone who was not afraid to deal with rowdy students. He had one of those thick wooden paddles that he would sometimes walk down the hall with to SHOW the students what awaited them if they acted up. He is 6'3" and weighs about 240Lbs and even though he was only allowed to give them three "licks" he made sure he swung hard enough for them to feel it.
When he retired and his position was filled by a negro, that school almost overnight became the most dangerous in central Texas. The negro did not care, as if he felt right at home in the new environment he allowed to happen.

Can't you see the writing on the wall? If these kids behave like this today then there is no telling what they are going to be like the next generation.
This teachers reaction is only just the start.
It may come to a point where kids will get so out of hand that their teacher will become a video screen. This is how a judge passes sentence in Texas jails nowadays, and many schools resemble jails in the way their students behave.

What usually works with pupils of whatever age, is little psychological tricks.
No, they must fear their teachers and the head of the school.
In an ideal world they should not have to be afraid at all, but this world is not ideal and what is required is that these teachers should be allowed to adapt to their students ever dangerous attitudes.
No I do not mean they should all pack dumbbells, but I do advocate that a teacher be allowed to get physically rough if that is the only option left to them.

Threats to cancel the class day out if they misbehave.
This is a threat? I imagine that they would act even worse if they knew it would get them out of school altogether.

    Activities to strengthen the atmosphere.
Can you think of any activities that will hold their attention more than video games, thug violence, porn, etc?
That is one of the reasons why kids act up. They are bored with the mindless drivel that passes for education these days.

Perhaps corporal punishment can or should be reintroduced in these increasingly problematic times...
    I agree.

Sounds like the teacher went into a full polar snap. Went to hyper adrenaline and testosterone survival brain. No higher order thoughts because all functionality is routed away from that part of the brain. The only available nerual patterns were to kill like an eraged ape. They described his after state as calm and unknowing, which signifies back to normal brain. Two seperate rails sharing the same body, a primitive hyper-stimulated control set and an aware one. Spooky. My ex was like that once, scary as hell! A whole other person, even thier facial expressions and body movements! They even talk differently.

Though on a positive, I reckon polar snappers might be good for sociopathic children. They might even make a show for it. 'When teachers attack'.

Then all the sweet, innocent kids can grow up with nice teachers and actually focus and do what we whities naturally do, ie, 'learn stuff'.

I have been a disruptive influence in school...(according to a school report)

My maths teacher was terrible at explaining stuff, and the lessons boring. I got kicked out of the room a few times and learnt from the posters in the corridor.

Not to mention teachers that will only help the top few people in the class, I found myself helping friends sometimes, and getting ignored by teachers when asking for help and then shouted at when they would turn up later and I was no further with the work.

But also, there is the ADHD kids and idiots with no discipline who deserve a good beating. A fun game at school was to stop them getting into the building for their ritalin at breaks by locking the doors and watch them try break down the doors.

So theres 3 reasons in my opinion and experiences ...

    1. Badly disciplined children of scum
    2. Bad teachers
    3. Disabilities

Id like to see children with genetic behaviour problems/mental illness taken out of mainstream schools and the standard of teachers to be raised before the reintroduction of corporal punishment.
